Samsung's Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 to be available for $650 through Galaxy Perks

Samsung has announced that beginning March 9, the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 will be available for $650 at major retailers. The Tab Pro 12.2 will include 32GB of internal storage, as well as over $850 worth of app and subscription content as part of Samsung's Galaxy Perks promotion, including three months of access to Hulu Plus, SiriusXM, and Audible, $25 in Google Play store credit, and more. The Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 can be purchased with the Galaxy Perks promotion from Samsung.com, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, Tiger Direct, PC Richard and Sons, Fry's and Newegg.

Amazon announces interest-free payment plan for Kindle Fire HDX

Amazon selling Kindle Fire HDX on nine-month plan

Amazon is allowing customers to pick up its Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 on an interest-free payment plan, it was revealed on Sunday. AllThingsD noted on Sunday that the online retailer is now offering the option to pay for one of its new tablets in four installments, with a number of protections in place for Amazon should a customer not manage to pay off the device in full. The move is the latest in a series of offerings by Amazon to increase the attractiveness of its low-cost tablet, including offering customers the ability to try the devices out for free for 30 days.

Epson adds printer support for Kindle Fire HD and HDX

Epson has announced its printing support for Kindle Fire Printing this week, offering an integrated wireless print function for Amazon's Kindle Fire HD and Fire HDX tablets. By adding the Kindle Fire tablets to its mobile printing capabilities, a wide range of Epson Connect-enabled printers can now print with tablets that run Amazon Fire OS 3.1.

Amazon discounts Kindle Fire HD, HDX for Cyber Monday

Amazon has dropped the price of two new Kindle Fire tablets, as part of its Cyber Monday deals. The 16GB model of the Kindle Fire HD has been reduced from $169 to $119 in the United States, while the seven-inch Kindle Fire HDX 16GB, normally priced at $229, is now at $179 until the end of Monday. Other variants, such as those without Special Offers or other sizes of the Kindle Fire HDX, also receive the $50 discount.

Amazon taps Ive-esque voice actor to rib iPad Air

Online retailer Amazon has joined Microsoft and Nokia in making ads poking fun at Apple's iPad Air in order to boost their own tablet offerings. CNet on Sunday noted the release of a new ad for the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 that lightly mocks Apple's marketing terminology and compares Apple's offering to Amazon's. The ad even makes use of a voice actor with a British accent reminiscent of Apple's Jony Ive.

Streaming to TV and second-screen functionality added in Fire OS update

Amazon has released the latest version of its Android implementation, Kindle Fire OS 3.1. The free update for Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX tablets adds a number of updates, with the integration of Goodreads adding book rating and quote sharing through the community, friend update feeds, and the option to import both print and digital books bought from Amazon into the Goodreads account.

Google Fiber Version 2.0 adds iPhone support and DVR management

Google's Fiber TV app for iOS received an update this week. The app allows users to control their Google Fiber TV service from their iPhone or iPad, to view content on-demand, or manage DVR recordings. Version 2.0 includes the ability to schedule, organize, and control playback of DVR recordings from their iOS device. Additionally included in the app release are bug fixes and tracking improvements. The Google Fiber app is available for free on iTunes, and requires iOS 6.0 or later.

Jab at iPad weight ignores smaller Kindle Fire HDX screen sizes

Amazon is attacking Apple's iPad Air just 24 hours after its launch, in order to promote its own tablet lines. A new promotional image on the online retailer's front page makes the claim that its Kindle Fire HDX models are "Lighter than Air," a hefty jab that claims its electronic devices are not as heavy as Apple's updated tablet range.

The seven-inch Kindle Fire HDX uses a 1920x1200-resolution display while the 8.9-inch version will have a 2560x1600 version, with both models also having the chiseled and unique design with rear-mounted buttons revealed earlier in leaks.
