Nintendo on Tuesday confirmed that its Circle Pad Pro add-on for the 3DS would becoming to the US. The right analog stick and shoulder button hybrid should reach the US on February 7 as a GameStop exclusive. It will carry a relatively low price at $20, although it won't come with extras.
Game-producer Konami has announced versions of Silent Hill, DanceDanceRevolution and Metal Gear Solid for the iPhone and iPod touch platforms. The first-person shooter Silent Hill The Escape allows gamers to control character movement by sliding a finger across the touchscreen, while the accelerometer provides input for aiming weapons at enemies. DanceDanceRevolution S Lite features 3D characters with the dance moves controlled by virtual buttons on the touchscreen.
A new version of the popular game Frogger has been released for the iPhone. Konami has carried the Frogger legacy across 27 years from the original 1981 arcade version. The player's frog must avoid moving obstacles on the way home across the pond, jumping past cars on the street or riding logs and turtles while crossing a river. Successfully navigating five frogs to safety will open the next level.
As Metal Gear Solid 4 approaches release, Sony and Konami have released definitive details about two previously mentioned console bundles, with some apparent tradeoffs between them. Crave reports that the limited edition gunmetal grey 40GB model features the same downside as the standard version, in that it can not play Playstation 2 game titles. The special edition will, however, come with a soundtrack and a Blu-ray disc with a behind-the-scenes documentary.
