Confirming earlier leaks, AT&T subscribers will be able to purchase LG's Vu Plus handset beginning June 6. The device is a revised and updated version of the previous Vu, adding 7.2Mbps HSDPA and a four-row QWERTY slide-out keyboard. AT&T's customized interface is presented on a three-inch capacitive touchscreen with 400x240 resolution, while the camera has been improved with a 3-megapixel sensor.
The LG Vu, announced yesterday at CTIA, features a full touchscreen that is capable of displaying mobile TV through AT&T's Mobile TV plan. It also delivers 3G access with up to 1.4Mbps real-world download speeds on AT&T's HSPA network. The Vu sports a 2-megapixel camera with autofocus and relies on microSD alone for storage. LG hasn't announced AT&T's pricing, but it said the phone should ship in May, just ahead of the one-year anniversary of its in-house rival, the iPhone. AT&T today unveiled plans for AT&T Mobile TV, a wireless television broadcast system provided by MediaFLO USA, and also mentioned the addition of the LG Vu and Samsung Access handsets in light of the announcement. AT&T Mobile TV will include two as-of-yet unnamed exclusive channels, in addition to Comedy Central, MTV, NBC 2GO and News2Go, and Nickelodeon, among others. AT&T did not specify when the service would be available.
