Clamcase Clambook docks with smartphones
Clamcase has taken the covers off its forthcoming Clambook for iPhone and Android devices. Flaunting MacBook Air-like design cues, the new peripheral follows in the footsteps of the Motorola Lapdock that use the brains of a smartphone to provide a larger workstation from which they can transform their smartphone functionality into something akin to a notebook. Although it is compatible with Apple’s iPhone connecting over USB via 30-pin cable, it incorporates MHL technology that is of most benefit to Android users.

Phone brings Snapdragon dual-core processor
ASUS has brought its latest gadgets to Mobile World Congress, including the PadFone smartphone and two docking accessories that can be used to convert the device into a tablet or ultraportable notebook. Electronista had a chance to try out the combination, which aims to compete with Motorola's Lapdock system.

Motorola chat shows Lapdock staying put
Motorola's mobile device VP Christy Wyatt in an interview Friday committed her company to the Lapdock concept. In speaking with AllThingsD, she saw notebook docks like the Lapdock 100 still being important to consolidation. People don't want to be "carrying 52 cords and 52 chargers and multiple data plans," she said, so it made sense to give them a way to extend the main device they have.

Droid RAZR is first thin, long-lasting 4G phone
Motorola ended rumors and unveiled the Droid RAZR. The device aims to leap over the typically bulky limits of 4G phones: its use of a Kevlar back and a stainless steel frame help it measure 7.1mm thick at most points, thinner than even a Galaxy S II, while still being strong enough to survive common abuse, including splashes. Battery life also doesn't take the typical hit: Motorola expects 12.5 hours of calling and 8.9 hours of video.

Lapdock 100 to go beyond ATT with Sprint deal
Motorola's Lapdock 100 won't just be confined to AT&T when it ships. A leak Saturday from Sprint's internal employee rewards newsletter relayed to Engadget has the phone-to-netbook transformer shipping on October 21. It would be arriving just four days after it arrives at AT&T linked to the Atrix 2.

Motorola Spyder and Atrix 2 get more details
Two of Motorola's most important smartphones for the near future have been spotted in individual leaks. The most unique identified by This is my next, the Spyder or Droid RAZR, could have a slew of firsts. The Verizon-bound phone could be first ever device with a qHD (540x960) Super AMOLED screen and back up its Gorilla Glass front with a Kevlar body and splash-resistant coating, toughening up the entire frame for real-world use.

Motorola Droid Bionic ships September 8 for 299
Nine months after a first showing at CES, Motorola and Verizon confirmed the long-delayed Droid Bionic. The Android 2.3 phone is Verizon's first dual-core phone with LTE-based 4G and is potentially one of the fastest phones on the web. The 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 is fast enough to both record and play 1080p video, including over HDMI out.
