InFocus ships range of affordable 3D projectors
InFocus has partnered up with Lightspeed to bring out a range of low-cost 3D projectors meant for classroom use. Medical students are said to especially benefit from the capabilities offered by a 3D projector, as they can see virtual surgeries being performed or see DNA strands or molecules from a new perspective. The IN100 series, IN2116 and IN3116 3D projectors have native resolutions that range from 800x600 to 1280x800 and brightness set at between 2,500 and 3,500 lumens.

NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision
NVIDIA on Thursday took the wraps from GeForce 3D Vision, its first stereoscopic 3D setup meant for home users. The add-on combines a set of glasses with a USB-attached IR emitter and certain new displays to generate 3D imagery for games, movies and videos without the blur or flickering that often creeps up in many stereoscopic setups. It also supports more common gaming setups and works with two-card SLI without special configurations.

LightSpeed 2.7 update
Xsilva Systems on Wednesday unveiled LightSpeed 2.7, a major update to its point-of-sale system for the Mac, which adds compatibility with QuickBooks Accounting 2009 for Mac, among other features. Users are able to now send POS data from LightSpeed to QuickBooks to simplify the accounting process. LightSpeed also ensures that duplicate entries do not populate in QuickBooks, with full history and archiving. LightSpeed 2.7 is available starting at $1100 with a tech support package.

LightSpeed 2.6 update
XSilva Systems on Tuesday unveiled LightSpeed 2.6 and Web Store 1.3, updates to the company's retail point-of-sale management system, both of which include improvements to features and functionality. LightSpeed now offers clothing retailers an expanded Product Matrix, while the Browser can now supports exporting. A new network-aware Auto-Updater keeps data consistant, and the app's Point of Sale and Browser windows have improved functionality.

Xsilva Lightspeed at MWSF
Montreal-based Xsilva Systems demonstrated LightSpeed 2.5 at Macworld Expo this past week, showing users how the software works with touchscreen computers. CEO Dax Dasilva guided MacNN through the workings of LightSpeed, pointing out the iPhone-like functionality of Cover Flow integration. Users can browse through products or customers using Cover Flow, giving retailers a visual overview of their database. Licensing for LightSpeed 2 starts at $750, and is available through Xsilva's online store.

LightSpeed 2.5
Xsilva Systems recently unveiled LightSpeed 2.5, an update to its Mac OS-based point of sale system, introducing features such as Leopard compatibility, iPhone integration, and CoverFlow. Retailers are able to track sales, payments, returns, and invoice counts over various periods of time using the iPhone App, LightSpeed Stats. Stats can also show information regarding which employees are currently clocked in for work and how much time they've spent on Jobs and Tasks, and the app links employee contact information to the iPhone so that emails and phone calls to staff require only one tap. LightSpeed 2.5 is available from select retailers, as well as the Xsilva online store, starting from $750.
