AMD, Intel, others form Cyber Security Research Alliance

Chip manufacturers joined by Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, RSA

Unlikely allies AMD and Intel have been joined by Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, and RSA to form the Cyber Security Research Alliance, a private, non-profit research consortium. The tech giant think tank has been formed to address the growing need for collaborative efforts to address complex problems in cyber security. Priority research areas for the organization will include data and information sharing, control system security, and threat mitigation.

Lockheed Martin teams with IronKey on USB drive

Lockheed Martin and IronKey have teamed up to create a new, ultra-secure USB drive called IronClad. The boot drive contains an operating system, programs and files, allowing users to plug it into any host PC and have access to their own desktop and files. There is no real need to access the host computer's hard drive, and the IronClad USB drive has 256-bit hardware-level encryption for protection from malware threats, including with rootkits.
