Lumia 900 gets reduced to just $50 subsidized
Nokia and AT&T have slashed the price of the Lumia 900 Windows Phone 7 flagship handset to just $50 on a two-year plan. With most flagship handsets costing anywhere up to $199 on a two year contract, the Lumia 900 had debuted in April at an already thrifty $99. A recent analysis of Lumia 900 sales in the US suggests that Nokia has managed just 330,000 sales since its debut, while news that the smartphone won't be upgradeable to Windows Phone 8 may also be behind the price cut.

Lack of Windows Phone 8 upgrade seen as stumbling block
T-Mobile in Germany will not be stocking the Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone. A forum post by a member of T-Mobile's support team advises that it is due to not having an upgrade path to Windows Phone 8, followed by customer frustration if the handset was bought then found not to be included in future updates, according to The Unwired.

Networking gear maker Sierra Wireless has just lifted the curtain of a new product, the AirPrime EM7700 embedded 4G modem. It has the distinction of being the first thin form factor 4G LTE network module, and is just 2.5mm thick. It is meant for use with tablets and ultra-portable notebooks.

Sales of limited edition Batman Lumia 900 restricted to 900
The Batman version of Nokia's Lumia 900 is hitting the UK on Friday. A preorder page on the Phones4U website shows the limited-edition Windows Phone 7.5 handset, complete with a laser-etched Batman logo on the back and preloaded with The Dark Knight Rises-related content, ahead of the film's July 20 release date.

New apps attempt to differentiate Lumia line
Nokia is still in the beginning stages of its smartphone transformation, which focuses on the Windows Phone-equipped Lumia lineup. The Finnish company did not bring any new hardware to CTIA this week, however representatives did allow Electronista to take an early look at several of its Windows Phone apps, including the augmented-reality utility City Lens, that aim to differentiate the Lumia series from other smartphone platforms and other devices in the Windows Phone realm.

Nokia struggling to match demand for Lumia 900
Nokia’s UK Lumia 900 launch originally anticipated to launch April 27 has been bumped back to ‘around May 14,’ the reportedly the result of stronger than expected demand for the flagship Windows Phone 7 device in the US. The company has said that demand for the device is outstripping supply and that it is ramping up production of the Lumia 900 so that can strike a better balance between supply and demand.

Multiple rumors point to same time-frame

Nokia Lumia 900 could now arrive in early April
Nokia’s anticipated high-end Windows Phone 7 toting Lumia 900 has now been tipped to arrive on AT&T’s network on April 8. The Nokia smartphone flagship was originally expected to arrive stateside by the end of March for $99 and was then said to have slipped to April 22 due a lack of technical approval. However, someone claiming to be an AT&T assistant store manager has tipped off The Verge that stores are already starting to receive demo units and staff training is to commence soon.

Nokia on the verge of WP7 push into China
Nokia has confirmed that it is planning a special Chinese Windows Phone launch for March 28. The announcement supports a recent report that Nokia has developed China-specific CDMA versions of its new Windows Phone 7 line-up which will begin shipping in April. The two phones set to lead the Nokia Windows Phone charge in China will be the low-end Lumia 610 and the mid-tier Lumia 800, with the high-end Lumia 900 shipping sometime afterwards.

Nokia talks about the history of 41MP sensor
Nokia's 808 PureView smartphone, with its industry-beating 41-megapixel sensor, was more than five years in the making at the company, and the company's Damian Dinning now revealed the project was inspired by satellite imaging tech. Nokia has experimented with folding optics for zoom, but found the solution to be slow and noisy, before realizing images taken by satellites use large resolution sensors and then crop the image and zoom in a specific part of the image.

Nokia PR gaffe reveals white Lumia 900 before time
Nokia has accidentally shown (since pulled) the white, international version, of the Lumia 900 on its Facebook page. The company is currently promoting the launch of white version of its Lumia 800, which is due in Europe later this month. However, instead of posting an image of the white Lumia 800 officially revealed this week, it has inadvertently posted an image of a white Lumia 900 that is not due to hit the US as a black model until March.

Windows Phone reaches new milestone in quick timeT
The Windows Phone Marketplace has reached its latest milestone, cracking the 60,000 app barrier. The figure comes some 14 months after the launch of Windows Phone 7 in October 2010 when it launched with just 1,000 apps. It had reached its previous milestone of 50,000 apps at the end of December showing a sudden acceleration as it has added a further 10,000 apps in just the past 25 days.

Myerson says WP7 suffers from a low public profile
New Windows Phone chief Terry Myerson has told AllThingsD that reason Microsoft’s answer to the iPhone and Android has so far failed to gain traction in the smartphone space is because of its low public profile. Myerson was reportedly checking out the smartphones on Amazon when he noticed that WP7 mobiles were getting the best reviews, but the best-selling handsets were running Android. He took a screenshot of the page and showed it to the Windows Phone team.
