Another object co-designed by Apple's Sir Jonathan Ive has appeared ahead of a charity auction, but rather than a gadget, this time it is furniture. The (RED) Desk by Jony Ive and Marc Newson will, like the one-off Leica M Rangefinder designed by the duo, will be auctioned off by Sotheby's in New York on November 23rd for the Product (RED) charity, with proceeds set to be used to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Africa.

One-off design will raise money for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Maleria relief

Pictures of the one-off Leica M Rangefinder special edition co-designed by Apple's Sir Jonathan Ive and Marc Newson have surfaced, revealing a unsurprisingly elegant yet sparse design with a Dieter Rams-inspired off-white and aluminum design that would fit right in with Apple's products. The camera will be auctioned off on November 23 for Product (RED) and includes a 50mm 2 Summicron lens. Proceeds will be used to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria outbreaks in Africa.

Pentax starts shipping K-01 and Optio WG-2

Following the February launch of the Pentax K-01 and the Optio WG-2, Pentax has announced that both cameras are now available for purchase. The Marc Newson-designed K-01 is the Pentax response to Sonys popular NEX-series of Alpha mirrorless cameras and boasts similar specs. Like the NEX cameras, the K-01 uses a DSLR APS-C CMOS sensor, in this instance with 16-megapixels.

Pentax K-01 images leak ahead of official debut

Ahead of its official unveiling in London on February 2, the Pentax K-01 camera may have been seen in images shared online by Mirrorless Rumors. The shooter was designed together with Australian industrial designer Marc Newson, according to Stuff-Review, and is expected to share its 16.2-megapixel sensor with the company's larger K-5. The camera will support K-mount lenses and is supposed to ship with a new DA 40mm f2.8 lens that's under 0.4 inches thick.
