MarkMonitor system think video game mod is one of six possible videos
The first of the Center for Copyright Information system infringement notices have gone out, according to some of the ISPs enrolled in the plan. The MarkMonitor system at the core of the "six strikes" initiative is under fire again in a report on TechDirt, for misidentifying a legal game mod for Guild Wars hosed on the MediaFire file locker service as either television shows Downton Abbey, Contraband, Grimm, House MD, or the Office, or possibly the film The Man With the Iron Fists.
Netflix buys DVD domain to keep DVD alive
Netflix confirmed Friday that it had bought the domain DVD.com. Using frequent anonymous domain registrar MarkMonitor, it now has the easy-to-remember web address automatically redirecting to dvd.netflix.com. The domain deal was described unusually by a spokesperson talking to Domain News Wire as helping to preserve the roughly 15-year-old disc format.
Google's upcoming tablet may be called Play
The rumored Google tablet that may arrive in April could be called Google Play. The indications of this come from 18 domain names registered on February 29 at MarkMonitor. While who registered these names hasn't been revealed, Google uses MarkMonitor for its own websites, including Google.com.
