New keyswitches required two years of research
Matias has put what it claims to be the world's quietest mechanical keyboard on sale. The Quiet Pro Keyboard is an update to the company's previously well-received Tactile Pro, but thanks to two years of research, is now far quieter than before. It is suggested that the Quiet Pro manages to keep its volume down to regular non-mechanical keyboard levels thanks to a new keyswitch.
Matias Smartphone Stand KB uses iPhone for F keys
Matias has expanded its classic-style keyboards with a new model designed for a symbiotic relationship with an iPhone or other smartphone. At a minimum, the USB 2.0 Keyboard + Smartphone Stand has a surface specifically intended to cradle most commonly-sized smartphones and similar media players. iPhone and iPod touch owners get special treatment, however, as keypad and trackpad apps let them either fill in for the missing F- and page keys or else steer the mouse pointer.
Matias iRizer, MiniRizer
Premium accessory manufacturer Matias recently unveiled the iRizer, a flat-folding, adjustable laptop stand. The iRizer is constructed from acrylic plastic, and can hold a laptop at angles between 20- and 50-degrees. Matias advertises that the stand can be used without an external keyboard – usually the height and orientation of the laptop on a stand can prevent comfortable typing – as the iRizer puts the built-in keyboard at a more acceptable angle, allowing users to sit back in their chair, as recommended by most ergonomists. Matias is currently shipping the iRizer for $40.
