IK Multimedia boosts SampleTank to 1.2
IK Multimedia has announced the availability of version 1.2 of SampleTank for iOS. The update for both the regular and free versions is available as a free download that adds support for MIDI program change, along with controller editing of all edit strip knobs. Free instruments are also available with the update. The full version of the app is available for $20 with 136 instruments and 1000 patterns included. A free version is available with eight sounds plus their patterns. An additional 22 expansion sound packs are available as in-app purchases starting at $5 per pack.

McGraw sees new iPads sparking edu demand
McGraw Hill Education's new ventures VP Vineet Madan predicted in an interview Monday that the new iPad would have a major effect on digital textbooks. He explained to TPM that the 2048x1536 display and added speed would be a large help for digital textbooks. LTE had its own benefit for those that could justify it, since it would be fast enough to stream intensive content instead of having to store everything locally.

Kno tablets now shipping
Kno on Monday night said that its 14-inch tablets will ship on Tuesday. Both the single- and dual-screen versions will be available and will cost the promised $599 and $899, respectively. New sales are currently limited to an invite-only system due to high demand, Kno said, although it hasn't said how many it will be shipping on launch day.

Apple rumored putting text on iTunes
A second and potentially more significant rumor today claims that Apple has been courting publications with the aim of putting text on iTunes for the sake of its upcoming tablet. The iPhone creator has reportedly talked to the New York Times, an unnamed magazine publisher (possibly Conde Nast or similar) and textbook publishers McGraw Hill and Oberlin Press to bring their content formatted for the iTunes Store.
