Asus undercuts own Nexus 7 with MeMO Pad

As it promised in January, Asus has started shipping its 7-inch MeMO Pad for just $149. The device takes many of its design cues from its stable mate, the Asus Nexus 7, while it also retains the 16GB of on board storage in that device. However, where the Nexus 7 is limited to either 16GB or 32GB of storage, the Asus MeMO Pad also supports microSD cards up to 32GB.

ASUS undercuts its own Nexus 7 with new MeMO Pad

ASUS has rolled out its new 7-inch MeMO Pad for just $150. The device undercuts its own co-branded Google Nexus 7 by around $50, but it comes at a cost, including a reduction in storage to 8GB. However unlike the Nexus 7, which only comes with built-in storage, the MeMO comes with a micro-SD slot and support for up to 32GB of additonal storage space.

ASUS' Eee Pad MeMO ME171 tablet has finally arrived in Taiwan, where early buyers have had a chance to benchmark the device. Initial unboxing shots posted on Netbook News show a build that is slightly thinner than Samsung's original Galaxy Tab, though its seven-inch 1280x800 display is slightly smaller than the 7.7-inch panel on the Tab 7.7.

MeMic BT accessory for ASUS tablet shows at FCC

A new accessory for ASUS' upcoming Eee Pad MeMO unveiled at CES has just shown up at the FCC. Called the MeMic, it's meant to connect over Bluetooth to the seven-inch tablet and allow users to make phone calls without holding the large tablet next to their head. It will also double as a remote control for the tablet.

ASUS unveils strong new tablet range for 2012

ASUS has revealed the new Eee Pad MeMO, a 7-inch, quad-core Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) tablet. The processor is a Tegra 3 matched with 1GB of RAM, while the display is also a high-quality IPS WXGA-type. The headlining feature, however, is the price – just $249, which is likely to give early adopting Kindle Fire users pause.

ASUS may double Android tablet shipments late 2011

ASUS' tablet shipments are due to surge enough that it may become one of the largest competitors in the field, touchscreen panel tipsters slipped out late Thursday. Once hit by chronic shortages, the company's shipments of Android tablets like the Eee Pad Transformer should reach 1.2 million to 1.5 million in the summer and only scale up further in the fall, according to Digitimes. Orders have supposedly jumped to include as many as four to 4.5 million tablets in the last six months of 2011.

ASUS Eee Pad MeMO, glasses-free 3D, IPS

ASUS has used Computex 2011 to show the production version of the Eee Pad MeMO, first unveiled at CES in January. Since it was first shown, ASUS has revised the device and has now included as its center piece, a glasses-free 3D display. What’s more, the display is also a high-quality IPS-type, while the tablet will also ship with a bundled Bluetooth MeMIC handheld headset/remote for making mobile calls and listening to music. The MeMIC also features a transparent LCD display as well as its own additional 3.5mm headphone port.

Asus teases MeMO tablet ahead of Computex 2011

Asus has teased another tablet ahead of Computex 2011 next week. This time the slogan in the teaser reads “Break the rules: A tablet that jumps out at you.” The image appears to resemble the Asus MeMO first unveiled at CES earlier this year. While not mentioned at CES as a possibility for the device, the slogan seems to suggest that the MeMO could feature a 3D display.

ASUS MeMO tablet gets Android 3 and MeMic handset

ASUS' MeMO tablet has been fully detailed with both its full hardware details and software plans lined up. The seven-inch Android 3.0 slate is now known to have a 1.2GHz Snapdragon inside capable of handling 1080p video and should support four bands for its HSPA+ 3G, including the 850MHz and 1,900MHz bands for North America. Versions of the tablet will come with up to 64GB of storage, and it should be mated with both a back five-megapixel camera and a front 1.2-megapixel camera for chats.
