Motorola Android 3 tablet surfaces online
Motorola's Android 3.0 tablet has emerged again tonight with a leak that shows both clearer images and more detailed specs. The new images from well-known Verizon leaker WN Russell reflect the same device shown off by Google VP Andy Rubin and show a 10-inch slate with the completely overhauled interface, including the new navigation bar and lock screen. The back shows the expected five-megapixel camera with flash as well as a large external speaker and what appears to be standard USB ports on the bottom.

MotoPad specs and photo show up
Motorola's upcoming Android 3.0 tablet, possibly called the MotoPad, has had its specs leak today through a forum post this week in Taiwan. Along with including a photo to show the multi-pane interface, the poster said it would have a high-resolution 1280x800 screen and backed the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 that would drive it. Also promised were versions for multiple carriers: it would have 3G versions for both UMTS (HSPA) and CDMA (EVDO) networks as well as 4G using LTE, alluding to a Verizon debut but not an exclusive.

TI unveils dual-core OMAP 4440 for phones, tablets
TI teased a major performance boost for smartphones and tablets today by unveiling the OMAP 4440. The design uses a dual-core, up to 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor at its heart, already representing a leap, but also adding two Cortex-M3 cores to shoulder tasks that need to be handled in real-time. It marks a 50 percent overall speed boost over current chips and is fast to enable 3D video, even in 1080p, and 3D photos from two 12-megapixel cameras.

Rubin shows early Motorola MotoPad and 3D Maps
(Update: video, new photos, new details) Google VP Andy Rubin as part of his talk at D: Dive Into Mobile tonight showed off a prototype of Motorola's MotoPad. He used the likely seven-inch device to show off an upcoming version of Google Maps and confirmed some of the suspected details, including the use of a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and a front-facing camera for video chat. It would use Honeycomb (Android 3.0), which will have tablet optimizations such as splitting the display into multiple views.

Motorola's Jha talks 4G phones and Verizon iPhone
Motorola's co-CEO Sanjay Jha dropped strong hints of future plans, as well as those from Apple, at the Credit Suisse conference on Wednesday. The leader of the soon to be independent mobile firm confirmed that he was onboard with Verizon's LTE plans and would have smartphones and other devices "early next year." They weren't identified but may include a Verizon edition of the Olympus phone as well as the MotoPad, a seven-inch tablet.

Motorola plans video media hub for mobile devices
Motorola at the Reuters Global Media Summit Wednesday said it would have a media hub at the CES expo in January. Motorola Mobility president Dan Moloney explained that the device would stream video with a mobile focus, primarily to smartphones and tablets. The unnamed hardware would be offered through service providers and would get its content from outside the home rather than from other nearby devices.

Verizon on Android popularity, phone 'by' mid-2011
Verizon as part of its 4G launch claimed itself directly responsible for the popularity of Android and also clarified its device plans. Google's mobile OS "took off" when it launched on Verizon with the Motorola Droid, the carrier said, and 4G was likely to do the same this Sunday when the LTE network when live. Both Android and 4G were on T-Mobile and Sprint earlier, it implied, but didn't catch on.

Samsung Galaxy Tab hits 600K in October
Samsung today said it had sold 600,000 Galaxy Tab devices since it had a wider launch a month ago. The Android tablet's results were spread across 30 countries and in the past two weeks have included US carriers such as Sprint, T-Mobile Verizon and most recently AT&T. Demand triggered shortages in some areas, though Samsung didn't say which.

Motorola Tegra 2 tablet due as soon as February?
NVIDIA's Tegra 2 processor will be a common sight throughout the CES show at the start of 2011, insiders said today. Chief among the vendors with tablets based on Tegra 2 will be Motorola, which is also now said to release such a tablet in February or March. Whether it will be the smaller seven-inch Motopad or the larger 10-inch Stingray model wasn't mentioned by Digitimes, however.

Google said choosing 7in Motopad for flagship
Google may have hand-picked a seven-inch Motorola tablet as its flagship based on a terse leak from Russia. Mobile-Review, often known as a home for accurate pre-release leaks, claimed that a seven-inch device known as the Motopad would be a "first device" to show Android 3.0, or Honeycomb. Motorola was chosen as the first to show Android 2.0 through the Droid last year.
