Moxi stops selling DVR gear, dates end of service

After its ups and downs, the Moxi DVR hardware is slowly being phased out at retail, maker Arris announced. The hardware cannot be purchased anymore, and program guide data and technical support for the DVRs will go dead at the end of the day on December 31, 2013. Arris will focus on its partnerships with cable providers, such as with Shaw Cable in Canada.

Shaw Cable brings back Moxi DVR as Arris Gateway

Moxi DVRs are now available yet again, but have unusually been confined to Canada. Shaw Cable is offering the device, now known as the Shaw Gateway, while the Moxi Mate is now called the Portal. The device has six tuners and a built-in 500GB hard drive.

Moxi DVRs get lower prices, new models, functions

ARRIS, the recent owner of Digeo and its Moxi-branded DVRs, announced on Monday it has overhauled the Moxi line and given it new features. This includes adding a three-tuner version of the Moxi HD DVR and introducing a new Moxi multi-room package that includes the new three-tuner Moxi. At the same time, ARRIS has dropped the price of its existing dual-tuner Moxi HD DVR. The new three-tuner Moxi HD DVR lets users record up to three channels at the same time and watch a program already recorded.

Moxi DVR Media Streaming

Digeo on Thursday rolled out an update to its Moxi HD DVR that significantly expands its role as a media hub. The new version adds DLNA support to stream music, photos and videos from nearby PCs and other devices on the local network, such as PlayStation 3s. It also takes advantage of new paid software from PlayOn that will push web video from Hulu, Netflix and other sites from a PC to the Moxi without needing to visit the web.

Digeo intros Moxi HD DVR

USA's Digeo Inc., maker of the Moxi media center software, has quietly began offering its first HD DVR, the Moxi HD DVR. Equipped with dual HD tuners and a 500GB hard disk drive, the Moxi HD DVR also offers an eSATA port for connecting external hard drives. Users can also plug in their multistream CableCARD into the DVR, eliminating the need for a separate cable box.
