LG prepping new 'phablet,' but precious few other details so far
An LG ‘phabet’ has been leaked courtesy of @evleaks, although it remains a mystery at this point what it is and where it fits into LG's product line. The device looks similar to the 5.5-inch LG Optimus G Pro, which has just gone up for pre-order with AT&T. However, it is possible that it features a slightly larger display edge-to-edge display as it omits the home button found at the bottom of the Optimus G Pro. It also seems to omit physical buttons on the sides of the device as well.

Discounts on $200 up-front charge for phone trade-ins
AT&T has officially announced it will be bringing the LG Optimus G Pro to its network. Confirming previous rumors, the carrier will be offering the smartphone on a two-year contract with an up-front $200 charge, with pre-orders online and in retail stores starting from May 3rd for a release one week later, on May 10th.

Revision for Korean carrier KT has smaller 5-inch display
A version of the LG Optimus G with features borrowed from the Optimus G Pro is heading to Korea. The Optimus GK has a five-inch 1080p Full HD IPS display with a pixel density of 440ppi, and though it has a smaller screen than its Pro equivalent, it keeps most of the internal specifications the same, just as the Optimus G Pro released specifically for Japan.

LG Optimus G Pro is fastest selling LG smartphone to date
LG has celebrated its Optimus G Pro 5.5-inch ‘phablet’ crossing the 500,000 sales mark in its home market of South Korea. The company has achieved the milestone in just 40 days, which is a record for any handset made by the company. Until now, LG has played second-fiddle to arch rival Samsung in the smartphone space, however its latest line Optimus G smartphones along with its Nexus 4 has helped to increase its profile while also garnering positive reviews.

Smart Pause in S4 similar to Smart Video in Optimus G Pro
LG is accusing Samsung of infringing a patent relating to eye-tracking technology. A patent for the Smart Video feature of the LG Optimus G Pro, which automatically pauses a video when the user looks away from the device, may have been infringed by a similar feature called Smart Pause in the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Full HD, 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 600
Shortly after being revealed in both Japan and South Korea, LG has brought its Optimus G Pro to Mobile World Congress, as part of its four-tier Optimus strategy. Electronista managed to spend some time with the Pro variant of the Optimus G, which includes a full HD IPS display measuring 5.5 inches, three quarters of an inch larger than its predecessor, the Optimus G.

LG Optimus G Pro, 5.5-inch display, 400ppi, Snapdragon 600
After giving its latest flagship smartphone an official reveal for the Korean market, LG has announced that the Optimus G Pro will be will be headed to the US market in Q2. The 5.5-inch ‘phablet will also be the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm’s new quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, which incorporates a range of architectural enhancements over the Snapdragon S4 Pro chip. The new chip also brings with it an enhanced Adreno 320 GPU, for better graphics performance.

LG Optimus G Pro headed to South Korea with quad-core CPU
LG has made its Optimus G Pro for South Korea official, with the device set to reach users by the end of the month. The Optimus G Pro differs from the 5-inch version recently unveiled for the Japanese market in its screen size only, with its cutting edge internal components carrying over. LG is also touting the curved glass on the new handset, which it says creates a ‘2.5G’ effect, which we will be keen to examine at Mobile World Congress first hand.

LG Optimus makes late global rollout
Coinciding with NTT DoCoMo’s announcement that it will be among the first to get LG’s very latest superphone, the 5-inch 1080p Optimus G Pro, LG has announced that its 1 million-selling Optimus G will make a belated global rollout. First unveiled in late August, the Optimus G will reach 50 new markets this month. Not including its Nexus 4-variant, the Optimus G has only been available in Korea, Japan, and North America since its debut.

LG Optimus G Pro revealed with larger display, faster CPU
The LG Optimus G Pro has made its debut in Japan, joining the ranks of the new wave of Android superphones packing 5-inch, 1080p displays. Similarly, it also runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, although this one is clocked slightly higher than some at 1.7GHz. If LG follows a similar rollout plan as it did for the 4.7-inch Optimus G, the new Optimus G Pro should be one of the next markets to be inline for the device.
