LG releases Optimus Vu sequel just six month after the original
LG has officially launched the Optimus Vu 2, its second take on the ‘phablet’ category made popular by Samsung's original Galaxy Note. The sequel has arrived in quick succession to the original, which was only went on sale in South Korea six months ago. The updated 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and RAM bump to 2GB appears timed so that the Vu 2 can better challenge Samsung’s recently unveiled Galaxy Note 2.

Double RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi Direct added to phone
Specifications for an update to the LG Optimus Vu have leaked online. According to Bad IT Tong, the Optimus Vu II will retain the same general shape and 1080x768 resolution IPS screen as its predecessor, but it will have a faster Qualcomm 8960 dual-core 1.5GHz processor and double the 1GB of RAM in the original.

Adds 4G LTE connectivity to dual-core smartphone
Verizon Wireless is adding the LG Intuition to its product range later this week. The five-inch Android 4.0 smartphone is effectively a rebranded LG Optimus Vu but with the addition of Verizon 4G LTE connectivity. As a competitor to the Samsung's Galaxy Note II and the S Pen, the Intuition has its own stylus called the Rubberdium.

White Optimus Vu expected to appeal to women
LG has promised to offer a white version of its Optimus Vu smartphone at SK Telecom in its home market of South Korea. The large, five-inch display of the Optimus Vu nearly rivals the 5.3-inch screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note, but sports a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the Note's 16:10. LG expects the white Vu to appeal to younger users and women.

Strategy Analytics sees Apple out of sweet spot
The ideal smartphone's screen size for most prospective buyers is on the large side, Strategy Analytics determined from a study. Researchers talking to existing American and British owners found that the "sweet spot" for a phone was between four and 4.5 inches, as long as the phone was reasonably thin. About 90 percent of those asked chose a device larger than what they have, although the study didn't gauge how many would buy a larger phone if pressed.

Optimus Vu now in Korea for near $900 equivalent
LG's Optimus Vu smartphone is now shipping at its home market of Korea. The LTE phone's five-inch, IPS display sports a rare 4:3 aspect ratio and a 1024x768 display. The potential competitor to the Galaxy Note competitor otherwise 8.5mm thick and weighs 0.37lbs (168g).

LG unveils Tag+ ahead of WMC, pushes NFC
LG has unveiled its Tag+ with NFC ahead of the World Mobile Congress. Very similar in concept to the Sony Xperia SmartTags revealed at CES 2012, LG’s Tag+ allows users to take advantage of the NFC technology in its new Optimus LTE Tag to automatically set the phone into user-preset modes. In the example seen in the photo embedded below, LG demonstrates how the NFC-equipped version of the Optimus LTE smartphone can be toggled into car mode, just by placing the phone near the tag for the setting to be applied.

LG Optimus Vu detailed ahead of MWC
LG has officially provided details surrounding the Optimus Vu, its own take on the same blurring of lines between the phone and tablet as Samsung's Galaxy Note. True to leaks, the device has a five-inch display like its Samsung rival but uses a 4:3 aspect ratio like the Pantech Pocket. The 1024x768, color-rich IPS display is said to improve text reading, LG claimed, although the ratio could make it even wider than the Galaxy Note.

LG Optimus Vu caught in the wild, wider than Note
The LG Optimus Vu has surfaced in live photos. The large ‘phablet’ centers on a 5-inch display that uses a 4:3 aspect ratio resulting in wider 90mm body than the 5.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Note, which comes in at 83mm wide. The device is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, which runs from February 27 through March 1.

LG to bring Optimus Vu with 5-inch screen to MWC?
LG is teasing a new handset on the web, the Optimus Vu, which could make a debut at Mobile World Congress. The handset would be rather unique, and is LG's first to get a 4:3 aspect ratio for its large five-inch, 1024x768 IPS touchscreen. Otherwise, it shoud sport a 1.5GHz, dual-core Snapdragon chip and 1GB of RAM.
