Optoma outs medium resolution pico projectors

Optoma has recently announced the release of two new pico projectors with the PK-201 and PK-301. They share nearly identical specs, but both represent a marked improvement in performance and capabilities compared to the company's current PK-102 projector. The pair has the same 854x480 native resolution, and the PK-301 has a claimed class-leading 50 lumens of brightness when plugged in or powered by the optional auxiliary battery, which gives the device an extra two hours of life. The DLP-based unit is one of the first ever to produce a 1080p image at just below $1,000 ($999) and gives a way for both computer users and home theaters to view a much larger image, up to 120 inches across, without losing detail. Image quality isn't believed to take a blow as the HD20 still musters a 4,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,700 lumens of brightness.
