Google flips the switch on delta app updates, saves bandwidth, time
Google has enabled delta update functionality in the Play Store. The functionality means that users on limited data plans, in particular will benefit from reduced file sizes when updating apps when not on a Wi-Fi network. Prior to this capability, users had to download the entire APK file each time was updated, requiring significantly more bandwidth than a delta update.

Options for monthly and annual subscriptions now within Android apps
Google has introduced in-app subscriptions to its Play store, according to the a post on the company's official Android developers blog. From today, App developers can use in-app billing to sell monthly or annual subscriptions from within the app itself. The addition brings Google's app portal in line with the Apple App Store in offering recurring billing to its customers and developers, with all subscriptions being auto-renewing by default.

Google's upcoming tablet may be called Play
The rumored Google tablet that may arrive in April could be called Google Play. The indications of this come from 18 domain names registered on February 29 at MarkMonitor. While who registered these names hasn't been revealed, Google uses MarkMonitor for its own websites, including Google.com.

HP Pre3 gets Play UK page with July 8 date
Hints of a mid-July Pre3 release grew louder Thursday as the UK's Play.com put up a pre-order for the webOS smartphone. The HP slider is shown as shipping in unlocked form on July 8, less than two weeks before it might show in Canada. The device also received a tentative £350 ($565) contract-free price.
