PlayOn gets Android streaming app
PlayOn today brought its mobile app to Android for the first time. PlayOn Mobile now lets users tap the service's remote media library from a Google-running smartphone or tablet with a similar amount of control. The approach optimizes video both from traditional providers with web video, like CNN and Comedy Central, as well as digital-first services like Amazon VOD, Hulu and Netflix.

Cirago outs latest CMC3200 media streamer
Cirago has recently revealed its latest multimedia home streaming device, the CiragoTV CMC3200. The upgrade from the existing CMC3000 doubles the hard drive capacity to 2TB, adds a Wi-Fi adapter and a one-year license to PlayOn digital media server that brings access to YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, and more. The device can play 1080p videos and gets the same functions as the other CiragoTV devices.

Roku no longer offers PlayOn due to legal risk
Fearing legal repercussions, Roku Developer Program Manager Patrick announced on the company's official forums that PlayOn-compatible channels have been removed and can no longer be added. Those who already subscribed to the channel may be able to keep it, though for how long isn't known. Roku says this is because neither Roku nor the developer of the channel are affiliated with PlayOn.

Native iPhone app returns to review
Having yet to receive Apple's approval for a native app, media streaming service PlayOn is tomorrow launching a dedicated iPhone web app. Via HTML5, people will be able to stream content from Hulu, Netflix, Comedy Central and other services. Some restrictions exist; the PlayOn streaming client works only on Windows, for example, and can only broadcast over a local network. The iPad is not yet supported.

Wii to get PlayOn app
Nintendo's Wii will get the ability to play movies on users' Windows PCs thanks to Media Mall's PlayOn app on Wednesday, August 26th. PlayOn has already allowed PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users to access Netflix Watch, Amazon VOD and Hulu content. The Wii version will also have support for a few other unnamed online video services, though does require an Internet-connected Windows XP or Vista computer as the source.
