Innvo Labs to offer limited Pleo Reborn numbers
A new and improved Pleo robot dinosaur is being made and sold overseas, according to an Engadget report. The new to is called the Pleo Reborn and features some upgrades compared to the 2009 original. Innvo Labs CEO Derek Dotson said its Hong Kong parent is selling the device, and one fan bought it at the Hong Kong Electronic Show for the equivalent of about $500.
Jetta buys bankrupt Ugobe
Ugobe, the company that owned the intellectual property rights for the Pleo robot dinosaur but recently went into Chapter 7 bankruptcy has been purchased by the manufacturing partner of Pleo, Jetta Company Limited. According to a RobotsRule report, the United States liaison for Jetta, Steve Ohler, says the company will re-release and improve Pleo and build accessories such as batteries and chargers. The bankruptcy sale took place on May 21st and there are no other details forthcoming from Jetta about when the Pleo will again be available on the market.
Ugboe files for bankruptcy
Ugobe, maker of the Pleo robotic dinosaur, has closed its doors, let its workers go and filed under Chapter 7 of the federal bankruptcy code in hopes to liquidate its assets on Friday, a Monday report says. The company, based in Eagle, Idaho, had sold 100,000 units at $200 each but had been unable to generate enough money to keep the company afloat without help from an outside source.
