Porsche Design has put its rumored BlackBerry smartphone on sale in the United Kingdom, one aimed at mobile phone users looking for a premium and rare device. Just like the BlackBerry P'9981, the P'9982 is available to purchase through London's Harrods department store at a price of ¬£1,500 ($2,400) off-contract.
Leather-clad Z10 shares design cues with P'9981 smartphone
A remodelled version of the BlackBerry Z10 by Porsche Design has allegedly appeared online. Images reportedly showing the smartphone, complete with the Porsche Design logo at the top of the device, are accompanied by details suggesting it will have its own version of the BlackBerry 10 user interface, and a claimed price tag of $2,000.
Harrods to get BlackBerry P'9981 in 2011 for $2K
RIM's high-style Porsche Design BlackBerry P'9981 has just received shipping details. It will arrive in the UK in Harrods department stores before year's end, with a steep price of £1,275 (about $2,000 at current conversion rates). This is, however, contract-free and buyers have to bring their own SIM cards.
BlackBerry 7 device listing shows up at FCC
A newly discovered listing at the FCC indicates a new BlackBerry 7 handset may be around the corner. While only the REA71UW designation is revealed, it doesn't specifically and readily identify a handset, leading some guesses. The listing does reveal AT&T 850/1,900MHz 3G network support and the choice of OS.
RIM confirms myth-laden Porsche-shaped BlackBerry
RIM on Thursday confirmed one of the longest standing rumored BlackBerry models in recent memory. The Porsche Design P'9981 Smartphone from BlackBerry is based on the Bold 9900 inside but has a Porsche Design-made stainless steel shell, a "hand-wrapped" leather back, and a uniquely shaped keyboard. Software is also unique: it not only carries Wikitude's augmented reality World Browser and a unique pre-installed theme but gives each user an exclusive PIN code that can help tell when friends also have the same phone.
RIM confirms Porsche BlackBerry 9980 is real
The mysterious Porsche Design-created BlackBerry has been confirmed by an invite sent to the media. The BlackBerry 9980, sometimes called the Knight, will be unveiled at an October 27 event in Dubai that Stuff and others will attend. Details were short in the invoite, but it would be an "exclusive collaboration," the invite read.
LaCie and Porsche Design out USB 3.0 hard drives
Maker of high-style external hard drives LaCie has partnered with Porsche Design on two new external hard drives. Both are available with USB 3.0 for faster transfer speeds and include the LaCie Porsche Design Mobile Hard Drive P'9220 and the LaCie Porsche Design Desktop Hard Drive P'9230. Each has a brushed aluminum exterior that is efficient at wicking away heat and is completely recyclable.
