Republic Wireless offers Moto X via Moto Maker, wood backing offer

Republic Wireless is finally offering the Moto X through Moto Maker, from 12pm Eastern Time. The budget carrier will be selling the Motorola flagship off-contract in 16GB and 32GB variants for $350 and $400 respectively. As an incentive for launch, the carrier is offering a coupon to the first 2,000 people to visit a specific site from 11am Eastern and provide their e-mail address, for a free wooden cover upgrade worth $25.

Moto X to be sold on Republic Wireless without two-year commitment

Low-cost carrier Republic Wireless has revealed it will be selling the Motorola Moto X on its network for $299. While this is more than the $200 usually charged by carriers for the smartphone, with Sprint offering it for just $100, the Republic Wireless model differs as it is offering it without requiring customers to sign up for a two-year contract.

Just one month after Republic Wireless officially launched a beta program for its voice and data plans, the company has changed its policy regarding "unlimited" use. Subscribers initially were allowed to use unlimited voice and text over Wi-Fi connections, however the company placed restrictions on the levels of data that could be used over Sprint's 3G network.

Republic Wireless beta live with LG Optimus phone

Republic Wireless, which outlined its $19 unlimited voice and data plans last week, has now gone live, albeit in beta. The only handset available that's required for the service has turned out to be the LG Optimus, which will cost $200 contract-free. Users will have 30 days to return the phone and get a refund, however.

Republic Wireless to bring UMA calling for $19

A new wireless provider, Republic Wireless, will launch a hybrid cellular voice and VoIP service on November 8 that promises to bring unlimited voice and data for just $19 per month. The outfit is an offshoot of Bandwidth.com, and will use Wi-Fi or data connections to make VoIP phone calls but switch to cellular-based calling when neither is available, GigaOM reported. It will also requires a specialized, Android-powered phone.
