Warner Bros. buys Flixster for digital everywhere
Warner Bros. started off Wednesday with a deal to buy Flixster. The takeover will use the site's movie discovery service and overall technical experience to push its Digital Everywhere initiative, which will eventually provide a "studio-agnostic" way of finding, loading, and managing their media collections regardless of where they are. Flixster would run independently and keep Rotten Tomatoes at arm's length from Warner to avoid bias towards the studio.

Google buys fflick for 10m in YouTube movie push
Google today was discovered to be buying the movie recommendation site fflick in what's likely an attempt to boost its upcoming YouTube movie service. The in progress deal, estimated by TechCrunch to be worth $10 million, would give it access to a Twitter-based sentiment engine that helps gauge whether viewers liked a movie or whether it has significant pre-release buzz. It's not clear if fflick would survive independently or would be subsumed entirely by Google.

Roku gets Flixster movie trailers, Tomatometer
Roku, maker of the streaming media player that allows for streaming movies, has partnered with Flixster to bring HD movie trailers to their home theater systems. This includes theatrical and DVD/VOD releases, and Roku users will also see Tomatometer scores from Rotten Tomatoes. Users can search Flixster's movie trailer database and search for those movies on either Netflix or Amazon Video On Demand.
