SurveyMonkey releases new app for survey tools on iOS

Online survey tool provider SurveyMonkey has launched an app for mobile creation and monitoring of surveys. Currently only available for iOS devices, the app features an intuitive user interface that facilitates the writing and designing of surveys and polls, as well as the sending of completed surveys to anyone via the Web, email or social media. Users can keep track of survey responses as they are received, and SurveryMonkey's analytics tool can organize, compare and filter data results. SurveyMonkey is a free download through iTunes, with Pro subscription options available ($24 monthly, $200 annual) that allow users to personalize the app with one's company logo, have access to more templates, and more.

UK carrier Samba offers free Internet for commercial viewers

Selectable advertisement viewing adds service credits

A UK carrier is attempting to court customers with almost-free Internet access. Samba, an reseller carrier using Three's network, is giving users data access on its mobile service in exchange for watching advertisements every day -- although other conditions of use may be seen as too high a barrier of entry to the service for some.

Addonics unveils USB-to-NAS adapter

Addonics NAS Adapter

Addonics on Thursday announced the release of its NAS Adapter that lets users add USB-based storage devices to local area networks. The USB storage device can then be shared by any user on the network and up to eight outside users with an Internet connection via FTP access. The adapter is compatible with SMB and open-source Samba network protocols, and can be configured as a printer server or BitTorrent downloader.

Sharity 3.4 improves compatibility, stability

Objective Development on Thursday unveiled Sharity 3.4, an update to its UNIX platform SMB file system that adds several bug fixes and improved compatibility with NAS devices. Sharity allows users to mount shared volumes from Windows, Samba, and other SMB/CIFS servers onto UNIX-based systems such as Mac OS X, Sun Solaris, and Linux, among others. Sharity 3 is available for evaluation for free, with personal licenses starting at $30, and commercial licenses at $200.

DAVE, ADmitMac for Leopard

Thursby Software Systems recently announced upgrades to its Mac networking products, DAVE 7.0 and ADmitMac 4.0, bringing compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The Arlington, Texas-based company says that the products offer significant networking stability over and above what Apple's operating system provides. Both updates are freely available from Thursby's website for users who purchased prior versions after July 31st, 2007, while new users can purchase DAVE for $120, and ADmitMac for $150, both of which have several licensing options.
