New touchscreen tech works with normal gloves

Panels destined for vehicle nav systems

SMK Corp has unveiled a new touchscreen panel that is claimed to work with gloved hands. Although several companies currently produce conductive gloves that work with touchscreens, SMK's panel does not require users to wear special gloves. The technology is said to utilize a high-sensitivity detection chip and an improved sensor panel structure, enabling the display to register input even when fabric separates fingertips from the panel itself.

SMK today took an unusual approach into iPad speaker docks through the PadDock 10. The curved stand design deliberately recalls the look of an iMac but has a unique level of rotation. The cradle grips rotate a full 360 degrees while keeping the speakers in place, letting the iPad play sound in any position and accommodating any app regardless of the orientation it wants.
