Company invites devs to create apps

Saab has previewed its upcoming infotainment system, IQon, which is based on Google's Android OS. Users will be able to access navigation utilities, multimedia content, web-based services, and a variety of other features. The interface is presented in an eight-inch touchscreen, while an integrated modem automatically connects to the Internet when the car is started.

Saab gives iPads to prospective 9-4X buyers

Deal requires early deposit

Swedish car maker Saab is now using the iPad as a promotional tool, says Leftlane News. People placing an order on the upcoming 9-4X can now get a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad. The deal requires putting down a $500, non-refundable deposit; nevertheless, Saab says it expects most 9-4X reservations to turn into car sales.

Saab to keep OnStar nav, help despite Spyker takeover

Saab extends OnStar service despite Spyker buyout

Car maker Saab Cars North America, which recently was bought by Spyker, from GM, has made an agreement with OnStar to keep offering the subscription service to future Saab buyers. All model year 2010 and newer Saabs sold in the United States will be covered under the deal. The service is free for one year for buyers of the Saab 9-3 Aero and Saab 9-5 models and includes navigation guidance and emergency help.
