Sakar announces four Polaroid-branded HD camcorders

License holder Sakar International and Polaroid revealed they will launch a new range of Polaroid-branded compact camcorders. There will be four, including the iD820, iD879, iD450, and the iD640. One of them, the iD820, is touted as one of the thinnest and lightest capable of recording 1080p content.

Sakar's Disney iPad Camera skips the computer

Docks with iPad or can be used stand-alone

Sakar has unveiled a series of Disney character cameras that work directly with the Apple iPad. The seven-megapixel Disney iPad Camera can either be used as a stand-alone camera or, uniquely, plug into the iPad's 30-pin docking connector for use with the tablet, skipping the computer entirely. Images can be edited using Disney's Disney Pix app (free, App Store).

The 14-megapixel Olympus SP-800UZ digital camera is now being offered for sale on Amazon. The camera has one of the longest zoom built-in lenses on the market, with a 30X zoom that has optical image stabilization. It's also capable of 720p HD video recording and has a 3-inch LCD screen.

Sakar resurrects Vivitar V3800N film camera

Vivitar V3800N film camera

Sakar has taken the unusual step of reissuing a film SLR, the Vivitar V3800N. The camera is meant to serve as a cheap, 35mm alternative to modern DSLRs, and uses a traditional focal-plane shutter. Features include a 10-second timer, shutter speeds ranging from 1 to 1/2000, and support for film rated between ISO 25 and 3200. Multiple exposures can be combined in-camera, and an X Contact hotshoe allows for the use of external flash.

Sakar outs Vivitar cameras

At the PMA show in Las Vegas today, Sakar has debuted a range of Vivitar-branded digital and video cameras and matching add-ons. The new products represent the first to be released from the brand since it was purchased by Sakar last year. The Vivitar V8400P is an 8.1-megapixel shooter capable of taking photos at depths up to 30 feet. It has an 8x digital zoom and a 2.4-inch LCD screen. The 32MB of internal memory can be expanded via an SD memory card slot. The shockproof camera can capture videos and will cost just short of $130 when it is released.
