Zoom Q3HD pocket cam records stereo sound, 1080p
Digital audio recording hardware maker Samson has introduced its latest pocket camcorder, the advanced Zoom Q3HD. While others on the market can also record at 1080p resolution, the new model brings in Samson's preferred dual microphones for truer stereo sound recording. The device can record 1080p at 30FPS or 720p in either 30FPS or 60FPS.
Mic offers XLR and USB connections
Samson on Wednesday introduced the Q2U Recording Pack which includes a microphone, HP20 headphones, and other accessories. The Q2U dynamic mic features both XLR and USB outputs, allowing users to simultaneously connect with a computer and other gear for live performances and recording. The mic offers a cardioid pickup pattern and an integrated A/D converter for 16-bit, 48kHz sampling.
Samson Go Mic released
Samson has released its newest microphone, the Go Mic. The device utilizes a USB connection for direct input, while a laptop mount that doubles as a tabletop stand. The microphone is compact in size, measuring 2.5-inches by 1.5-inches, and utilizes a multidirectional hinge to help ensure users record the intended audio. The device integrates a condenser microphone with a frequency response of 20Hz to 18kHz with 44.1kHz/16-bit resolution.
Zoom Q3 Pocket Cam
Samson today hoped to bring quality to pocket video cameras and launched the Zoom Q3. It records video in standard VGA (640x480) but adds two large condenser microphones borrowed from the audio-only H4n, giving it 48kHz, 24-bit stereo sound. The enhanced audio can additionally focus on a particular point independently of the fixed-zoom lens to capture sound at a distance.
Samson releases R16
Samson has released the R16, a new addition to its Zoom audio capture roster. The R16 is used to record up to eight audio tracks simultaneously (16 if a second R16 is attached) while controlling the sound of each track individually. The device is portable, running on 6 AA batteries, and can take a 32GB SDHC card to help make the device lighter. The SD card also simplifies file transfers, is less susceptible to crashes and holds up to about 100 uncompressed audio tracks.
Samson intros iPod dock
Samson on Thursday released its StudioDock 3i USB studio monitor speakers with a built-in iPod dock. The speakers also have a USB interface on the rear panel that allows other USB devices or computers to play their audio content. For more traditional sources, the desktop speaker system has an RCA input on the rear, as well as an 3.5mm auxiliary input jack on the front panel, right next to the a headphone output jack.
