Company shows new 4k televisions, sound base, display
Display manufacturer Sceptre will be celebrating its 30th anniversary at the Bellagio in Las Vegas this week, during CES. New and highlighted this year are an 84-inch 4K UHD television, a 49-inch 4K UHD touchscreen computer monitor, and a wireless soundbase for use to bolster sound from the flat panel televisions.
Sceptre releases new 24-inch LED HDTV with built-in DVD player
Sceptre has unveiled its new 24-inch LED HDTV, an all-in-one unit with built-in DVD player. Its base swivels to offer flexible viewing angles, and the television is equipped with a side-accessible HDMI port and USB port for connecting to external sources. Featuring a 1080p, 1920 x 1080 high resolution LED display with 16:9 wide screen, Sceptre's TV has an estimated 50,000 hours of life. Priced at $400, Sceptre's 24-inch Color Series is available in white, pink, red and black.
Ultra HD TVs, sound bars, zipper-style headphones on show at CES
Display manufacturer Sceptre has revealed its 2014 line of televisions and other devices at CES. Though light on details, the company advises that the typical range of HDTVs is accompanied by a group of Ultra HD displays, sound bars, speakers, headphones, and a number of what Sceptre calls a "Mobile Internet Display" but sounds like a collection of tablets.
Bulb life of HDTV claimed to last for more than five years
HDTV and PC display manufacturer Sceptre has unveiled a new television to its range, one which the company claims to be very energy efficient. The X322BV-HDR is a 32-inch LED HDTV that is Energy Star V6.0 compliant, its rated lamp life of over 50,000 hours allows it to be used for more than five years non-stop, and the claim that it has an estimated energy cost of $8.60 per year.
British Airways tests electronic tags for airline baggage
Airlines may use electronic tags for luggage labeling instead of paper versions in the future. British Airways is using a Designworks-created electronic baggage tag as part of a trial, with information able to be updated on the e-paper display wirelessly using a smartphone app and an NFC or Bluetooth connection, allowing it to be used multiple times and potentially saving waste. If successful, British Airwars will provide larger quantities of tags to customers, which could also potentially be reused by other airlines.
Sceptre enables MHL connections with 2013 HDTV line
HDTV and PC display manufacturer Sceptre has added Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) to a number of models in its 2013 line of LED HD televisions. A number of models, starting from 32-inches and going up to 58-inches, will now connect to a compatible smartphone over a cable, and will not only display the phone's screen and stream any accompanying audio, but also charge the phone at the same time, using a single cable.
Sceptre launches 32-inch HDTV with integrated DVD player, USB drive
Sceptre this week unveiled a new addition to its display lineup with the 32-inch E325BD-HD. It offers 31.5 inches of viewable area and has 1,366x768 resolution, along with a slot-loading side DVD player that's hard to find nowadays. The set is under two inches thick and weights about 20lbs with the stand.
Walmart, Dell, NewEgg show CyberMonday deals
As it's Cyber Monday, which follows Black Friday, many companies continue to offer sales on their wares, with electronics included. Among them are Walmart, Dell and Newegg, with the three retailers showing off what's on sale today. Walmart is taking the sale and extending it for the entire week, calling it Cyber Week. Standout deals from the retailer's 150 sale items include a 12-megapixel digital camera with a memory card and accessory kit for $89, a 10.2-inch Acer netbook with a case and USB flash drive for $268 as well as a 22-inch Samsung LCD HDTV priced at $248.
