Onkyo Sotec C204 netbooks
Normally known for home theaters, Onkyo has announced the release of three new netbook PCs under the Sotec brand that make up the C204 series. All of the 10-inch models are powered by Intel's 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU on an Intel 945GSE Express mainboard and have 1GB of RAM. Relatively rare in the category, each uses a 32GB solid-state drive as standard rather than the rotating disks or smaller solid-state drives of rivals. Making the choice lets Onkyo drop the weight to just 2.1 pounds and slim the notebooks down to 0.9 inches thick.
SOTEC C101 Hello Kitty
Capitalizing on two trends at once, Japan's SOTEC today launched a Hello Kitty version of its C101 netbook. The 10-inch C101K3W has a custom imprint of Sanrio's signature character on the back as well as a startup screen and desktop background to match; SOTEC claims that its building process should keep the special outside free of scratches.
Sotec PC with iPod dock
Onkyo subsidiary Sotec recently introduced the first PC with a built-in iPod dock as part of it E7 series of media center PCs. With styling that takes cues from iMacs, the E7 combines a 21.6-inch, 1680x1050 LCD display and the computerís associated hardware into one unit. The standard CPU is a 2GHz Intel Pentium dual-core, though a 2.53GHz CPU is optional, and other specs can be optioned up to include 2GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive. Standard fare is 1GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive.
