Road Warriors looking to protect their MacBook should consider Speck
While hard cases for Apple’s iPhones are a dime a dozen, Speck is one of the few manufacturers that makes hard cases for Apple’s line of MacBook computers. Although many MacBook owners looking to protect their investment from damage have been prepared to buy a Speck case in the past, a common criticism is that though tough, they come at the expense of added weight and bulk. Speck has tried to address this shortcoming with its new SmartShell for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

Speck releases new SmartShell for MacBook Pro with Retina Display
Speck is now taking orders for its new SmartShell for Apple’s MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The company seems to have acknowledged a frequent complaint with previous versions of its snap-on hard protective covers, which while effective, are slightly thick and heavy. Speck says that its new SmartShell for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display is 30 percent thinner than previous versions.

ThinkGeek outs iPhone case with flip out keyboard
iSkin has launched a new wave of cases for the iPhone 4 and the iPod touch 4G, including two new cases for the iPod touch and three for the iPhone 4. The Solo Vu for iPhone 4 is a slide-on two-piece design. It combines hard and soft plastics while protecting the rear, sides and front face, with openings for all ports. The case arrives in three colors and ships for $40. Another slip-on case is the Solo FX, which features a circular pattern for an etched effect and uses Microban antimicrobial protection. The Solo FX comes in five colors and sells for $35. The Duet for iPhone 4 is a hard case and belt clasp combination design. The holster is a rotary clip that doubles as a media viewing stand. The Duet is available in black for $40 -- it is listed as shipping in one to two weeks.

New Scosche case offers 4 iPad display views
Speck has launched three new iPad bags, while Scosche has unveiled the foldIO iPad case. Speck's A-Line 10 is a handbag-style product with a zippered, padded and microfleece-lined main compartment. Two zippered pockets in the interior store other items, and include passthroughs for headphone cords. The A-10 comes in gray and purple, black and gray, or brown and red.

Four new Artsprojekt iPhone case designs
Speck has introduced four new limited-edition designs for its Artsprojekt line of iPhone cases. New additions include Waves, Campsite, Bosque and Chemical Girl, expanding the series to include seven unique designs. Each of the new cases is said to be available for up to 250 phones, with a collector card that contains information about both the artwork and the artist.

Speck ships upgraded cases
Speck has launched updated versions of its See Thru and See Thru Satin cases for MacBooks and MacBook Pros, including 13- and 15-inch sizes. The cases accommodate design changes in the new Pros, while retaining compatibility with the previous generation of unibody notebooks. Case construction involves two translucent hard shells, which snap into place to protect a computer from bumps and scratches.

New Touch cases ship
Speck has launched a second-generation iPod touch version of its CandyShell case. The cases combine a hard outer shell with a soft, rubberized inner lining and have access to all ports. The power and volume controls have touch-through covers with contrasting accent colors. The CandyShell comes in two color options, Lemon Drop Liquorice, a high-gloss black shell with bright yellow interior and outer accents, and Cranberry White Truffle, a high-gloss white shell with cranberry red interior and accents.
