Motorola teases images of new handset a day early
Motorola is pre-empting its October 18 press event it's holding in conjunction with Verizon in New York City with packages sent out to bloggers, with MobileBurn getting one. It hints at what will be revealed, with the teaser image pointing to the Spyder/Droid RAZR, as previously believed. Items in the box include a model SR-71 Blackbird jet, some chocolate-covered mint candies, a mouse pad with a carbon fiber motif, and a Motorola-branded Rubik's Cube.

Motorola Spyder seen live for first time
Motorola's relatively nebulous Spyder has been seen live in earnest for the first time through a leak. The Tuesday sighting at Engadget showed a device with Verizon badging and its 4G LTE logo, making it a very strong candidate for its October 18 event. The Android 2.3 example has a carbon fiber effect back and has its dual-core TI OMAP chip clocked at 1.5GHz, although it's expected to drop down to 1.2GHz in the shipping version.

Motorola and Verizon hint Xoom 2 dropping early
Motorola on Monday sent out invites for a special event in New York City on October 18 to spark new life into its mobile line. The "Faster. Thinner. Smarter. Stronger" event has few details but will have "four reasons" to be interested, according to a teaser clip (below). The headliners are expected to be the Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition.

Droid RAZR at Nenamark, RAZR domain bought
The upcoming Droid RAZR/Droid HD/Motorola Spyder just received some benchmark tests administered by Nenamark. Other than the numbers, the listing confirms the phone will ship with a 960x540 touchscreen and get a 1.2GHz, dual-core TI OMAP4430 processor. Verizon will carry the handset, as evidenced by the carrier ID.

Nexus Prime and more tracked in Verizon system
Three flagship Android phones Verizon have surfaced in the Cellebrite catalog system that both confirms their Verizon attachments as well as that they will ship soon. As found by Droid-Life, the highlight is the Nexus Prime, the official Google-blessed Ice Cream Sandwich phone. The Samsung-made phone has a Verizon-specific SCH-i515 model number and is mentioned by name, hinting that Google has settled on a name.

Motorola Spyder and Atrix 2 get more details
Two of Motorola's most important smartphones for the near future have been spotted in individual leaks. The most unique identified by This is my next, the Spyder or Droid RAZR, could have a slew of firsts. The Verizon-bound phone could be first ever device with a qHD (540x960) Super AMOLED screen and back up its Gorilla Glass front with a Kevlar body and splash-resistant coating, toughening up the entire frame for real-world use.

Droid HD for Verizon codenamed Spyder
The recently leaked Droid HD smartphone from Motorola may turn out to be the codenamed Motorola Spyder, the Droid-Life team believed after doing some digging. The device, headed to Verizon, is being described as a brother of the Photon 4G. It would have a different screen and a camera with less than the eight megapixels of the Photon 4G.
