Luxury brand hire brings another executive into the Apple fold for the iWatch

Last week, Swiss luxury-watch marker TAG Heuer reportedly lost a key person in its sales division to Apple. In an interview with CNBC, LVMH's head of watch brands Jean-Claude Biver confirmed that the company recently lost an executive to the iPhone manufacturer. Sources confirmed that the executive was Vice President of Global Sales and Retail Patrick Pruniaux.

Tag Heuer has unveiled an updated version of its Meridiist luxury mobile phone, featuring what it calls a the "world's first perpetual power reserve." By using the Wysisps transparent photovoltaic film from Sunpartner behind the display, the Meridiist Infinite effectively turns the screen into a solar panel, allowing it to charge without needing to be connected to an external power source.

Tag Heuer is no stranger to making ultra-luxury handsets, and is now back with another mega-dollar offering. The Android-powered Link smartphone differs from other similar exclusive devices as it's more rugged. The maker says the device is impervious to water, shock, and dust, and has a 3.5-inch Gorilla Glass screen to guard against scratches.

TAG Heuer outs ultra-exclusive handset

TAG Heuer on Monday announced the release of a limited-edition cellphone, the design of which was inspired by the Lamborghini Murcielago supercar. Only 1963 examples of the MERIDIIST Automobili Lamborghini cellphone will be made worldwide to signify the founding year of Lamborghini cars. The phone is made of stainless steel coated in black titanium carbide and sports the same signature as the one found on the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640's V12 engine block.
