TBS and TNT Google TV apps need existing cable
Turner has confirmed that it has Google TV apps for TBS and TNT in development but which will be limited. Following premature appearances on Android Market, a representative told GigaOM that both apps will require that viewers sign in with an account linked to traditional TV service to watch video. Authentication has been common on mobile apps but hasn't shown up on TV through the lack of third-party apps.

Still restricted to channel subscribers
Turner-owned cable network TNT has released its first iPad app, simply titled TNT for iPad. The software allows access to complete movies and TV shows, although as with some other apps, users must prove they already have access to the network through a conventional TV provider. Some other content includes clips, episode guides, and show schedules and reminders.

Android 3.1 official with Google TV helps
Google at Google I/O 2011 unveiled its previously promised Android 3.1. The new update now has a more advanced multitasking system that shows all recent tasks, even ones that have been shut down to save memory. USB host device is also finally new: catching up to Apple, Android devices can now import photos from a camera, rely on a gamepad, or other hardware input.

SyFy latest to block Google TV browser
Viewers discovered this weekend that SyFy has begun blocking Google TV devices from its site. The NBC-owned channel began telling users that video is not "currently available on this device." It joins blocks by other major studios, including NBC itself as well as ABC and CBS. Hulu has blocked Google TV from its free access since before launch.
