Sony PS3 slim gets cheaper power
Sony's mystery new PS3 model was uncovered on Monday with a new model in Japan. The CECH-3000B, a Japanese version of the CECH-3001B, should be better-behaved than the old model with a 200W power draw instead of 230W on the current slim PS3. The newer design would be lighter, too, at 5.7 pounds instead of the usual 6.6.
Xbox would have exclusive Internet TV station
Microsoft and former News Corp. head Peter Chernin are considering producing an Internet TV station just for the Xbox 360, a rumor maintained today. The station would give Xbox Live owners a mix of new and rerun shows. It might cost gamers extra, and Chernin is reportedly pushing to add the equivalent of $1 to $2 per month to the annual Xbox Live Gold fee to subsidize the network.
Sony Torne DVR for PS3 priced, dated
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) on Wednesday has confirmed that its Torne DVR and TV tuner will be released next month. The product's release will be confined to Japan, as expected, because it supports the country's terrestrial digital broadcasts. The device will connect using the USB connection and have the ability to record TV onto the PS3's hard drive or up to four external hard drives at the same time.
