Toughpad FZ-E1, FZ-X1 can be submerged, dropped, has hot-swappable batteries
Panasonic is expanding its Toughpad range of ruggedized tablets with two five-inch tablets. The smartphone-sized devices, the Toughpad FZ-E1 and the Toughpad FZ-X1, are heavy duty items with five-inch screens designed for use in extreme working environments, with each able to survive being submerged, dropped onto tough surfaces, and used at extreme temperatures.
Ruggedized Toughpad tablet is water, dust resistant, downgradable to Windows 7
Panasonic has launched another model for its Toughpad ruggedized Windows tablet range. The Toughpad FZ-G1 has a 10.1-inch 1920x1080-resolution glove-compatible multi-touch display with digitizer and stylus with the entire unit protected against water and dust to IP65 certification level, and shock resistant against drops from a height of up to 180cm (5 feet 9 inches).
Ultra HD tablet shipping in November, optional pen input
Panasonic will be shipping a large Ultra HD-resolution Windows 8 tablet to Europe in the coming months, according to an IFA announcement. The Toughpad 4K tablet, initially shown at CES earlier this year, has a 20-inch IPS display with a resolution of 3840x2560, aimed at artists and architects rather than the usual Toughpad and Toughbook target audience.
Protected 10.1-inch slate joined by 7-inch Android tablet
Panasonic has updated its Toughpad range of tablets with a pair of ruggedized offerings. The Toughpad FZ-G1, aimed at outdoor and vehicle-based users, is the company's first to run Windows 8 Pro, while the Toughpad JT-B1 is a heavily protected 7-inch Android tablet for use by mobile workers in public-facing and heavy-duty industries.
Panasonic Toughpad A1 and B1 official with Android
Panasonic formally launched into Android tablets on Monday night by rolling out the Toughpad. The 10-inch A1 and seven-inch B1 are considered "professional-grade" and have the durability more commonly associated with Toughbooks. Either can meet US military 810G specs for resistance to shock, dust, water, and sometimes temperature, and they have extras intended for years-long use, such as removable batteries.
