US Congress asks 33 iOS developers to talk app privacy

Twitter, Facebook among scrutinized companies

The US Congress' House Energy & Commerce Committee chairman Henry Waxman and chairman Fred Upton have issued a letter to 33 iOS developers, asking them about privacy policies when it comes to apps, reports say. A number of prominent developers are included in the list, such as Twitter, Facebook, SoundCloud, Turntable.fm, Path, and Tweetbot creator Tapbots. The letter actually claims that 34 developers have been contacted, but only 33 are mentioned.

Facebook music and video sharing unveiled at f8

Facebook continued its string of news at f8 by detailing its media sharing. Part of a new system of verbs that replace the generic Like, it focuses most on music: users can spot someone listening to a song in the live ticker and start listening to the same track. Services will still need to launch the separate app if it exists, but the method will let anyone listen to similar content if it exists in a subscription service.

Turntable.fm gets iPhone app, $7m in funding

Turntable.fm now an iPhone app, gets funding

Online music service for DJs, Turntable.fm, has just showed up in the form of an iPhone app (free, App Store). The company behind it has also received $7 million in funding led by Union Square Ventures. Turntable started off with three employees and is now at 10.
