ViewSonic to bring Touch and Connect range of tablets, more, to Computex on June 5
ViewSonic, best known for its wallet-friendly TVs and computer monitors, is now teasing a new range of Android-powered tablets. The Touch and Connect range is said to be in prototype form, and is headlined by the 22-inch model, thus far known only as a smart business tablet monitor. It appears to be running on Android 4.0, though it may also eventually get a model with Windows 8 onboard and multi-touch capability.

Separate suits filed in the US and Germany
Nokia has filed several separate lawsuits against HTC, ViewSonic and Research In Motion. The latter companies are accused of patent infringement for technology that is claimed to be protected by as many as 45 different patents related to hardware and software.

ViewPhone gets Android 4 models ahead of MWC
ViewSonic's other contributions to Mobile World Congress on Friday revolved around three smartphones, some testing the edge of what could be considered entry level. At the top, the ViewPhone 4s has a 3.5-inch, 640x960 IPS-based LCD much like that on Apple's iPhone 4 and 4S. It's closer to the iPhone 4 in features with a 1GHz processor, a five-megapixel rear camera, and a front VGA camera, although it, like the other two phones, ships with a customized version of Android 4.0 and dual SIM card slots.

ViewSonic ViewPad gets MWC 2012 refresh
ViewSonic brought its offerings for Mobile World Congress out on Friday, starting with tablets. The previously-leaked ViewPad G70 hopes to claim the budget title by combining Android 4.0 with a seven-inch screen. Prices are kept down by using a two-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera, although it has 1GB of RAM, a microSDHC card slot, and mini HDMI; ViewSonic hasn't identified the processor.

ViewPad G70 with 3G, Android 4 coming to MWC
ViewSonic will unveil a seven-inch Android tablet at Mobile World Congress next week, Pocket-lint learned. Likely to be called the ViewPad G70, the device should run on Android 4.0 and a 1024x600-resolution touchscreen. It should also have the firm's custom ViewScene interface, but it ought to still keep access to Google services and access to the Android Market.

ViewSonic gives a glimpse at upcoming gear at CES

ViewPhone 3 to get US intro at CES

Core i7 powered computer to run ExoPC's own UI

Viewsonic ships V3D231 3D monitor with glasses
Viewsonic has just introduced a new and still uncommon 3D monitor the V3D231. While common with TV, the 23-inch screen is one of the few computer displays to let viewers to wear inexpensive polarized 3D glasses instead of the usual active shutter glasses. It outputs at 1080p in 2D with a static 1,000:1 contrast ratio but a dynamic 20,000,000:1 ratio.

ViewSonic has announced its first ten inch Android-only tablet, the ViewPad 10e. The Viewpad 10e has a 9.7in. IPS LCD display with 1024x768 resolution. Like its smaller sibling the ViewPad 7e, the Viewpad 10e uses a 1GHz, single-core Cortex A8 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB onboard storage expandable to 36GB with an SD card. It will use the Android 2.3 and ViewSonic's proprietary 3D interface.

Handset represents Viewsonic's third Android phone
Viewsonic has introduced its latest Android-based smartphone, the V430. The device appears to be a larger cousin to the company's V350; both devices share the same Android build, v2.2 Froyo, however the V430 jumps to a larger 4.3-inch display with WVGA resolution. ViewSonic gives up on Boxee smart TV, for now
ViewSonic will no longer bring its planned smart TV running on Boxee's media center software, at least in the near term, the company told GigaOM. High costs and a lack of interest in the market were cited as the key factors. ViewSonic elaborated, stating consumers spent less on Smart TVs along with the slow-down in the economy.

Microsoft gets Acer, ViewSonic to pay for Android
Microsoft continued its campaign of profiting from Android's success on Thursday with new patent licensing deals through Acer and ViewSonic. The deals will see each pay royalties for their Android devices, such as the Iconia Smart and ViewPads. In spite of Acer being one of the first Chromebook makers, only ViewSonic of the two will also pay royalties for any Chrome OS devices it makes.

ViewSonic shows one 10-inch, two 7-inch tablets
ViewSonic will bring three new tablets to the IFA show in Berlin. There are two 7-inch devices, with an Android 3.2-powered one called the ViewPad 7x and a cheaper, more e-reader like model in the ViewPad 7e. A 10-inch ViewPad 10pro will have Windows and Android with dual-booting.

10.1" tablet limited to Android 2.3
ViewSonic has finally announced US launch plans for its 10pro tablet, which was first unveiled at the end of May at Computex 2011. The tablet features dual-boot capabilities, enabling users to run Windows 7 or Android. The latter OS is limited to Google's Gingerbread build, however, rather than a Honeycomb 3.x variant that is now common to high-end Android tablets sharing the same 10.1-inch display size.

ViewSonic has announced that it will ship its new 24-inch V3D245 3D monitor this August for $500. Viewsonic releases Galaxy Tab killer on a budget
The Viewsonic 7-inch Android 2.2 tablet is now on sale through Amazon. The tablet has been dubbed the ViewBook VB730 and comes in at an affordable $230. As might be expected, it runs an older generation 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor matched with 512MB of RAM. However, a surprise at its price point is the inclusion of an HDMI port with 1080p playback and a stylus for input.

Honeycomb tablet to hit Japan in mid-August
Camangi will be introducing the Viewsonic 7x tablet into the Japanese market. Rebadged as the Mangrove 7, the seven-inch tablet will be one of the first tablets to run Android 3 and won't necessarily use 3.2. It is expected to be available in mid-August.

At the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan, ViewSonic introduced a 24-inch, 3D LCD display, the ViewSonic V3D245wm-LED. ViewSonic claims it is the first 24-inch smart monitor with an integrated 3D emitter. The V3D245wm-LED has full 1080p HD playback at 120 MHz refresh rate. The monitor includes integrated SRS Premium surround sound speakers and one HDMI 1.4 input. ViewSonic claims it has a dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1 and a peak response time of 2ms.

Viewsonic has introduced two new tablets at Computex 2011. The Viewsonic ViewPad 10Pro will arrive with Windows 7 and Intel’s Oak Trail platform. Tablet said to be labeled the 7X
ViewSonic is reportedly set to introduce a new Android-based tablet, the 7X, featuring a seven-inch display. ViewSonic ViewPad 10 upgraded to Android 2.2
ViewSonic today gave owners of its unusual ViewPad 10 dual-boot tablet an upgrade to Android 2.2. The hybrid is leaping from the aging 1.6 and now gets access to a much more recent web browser, voice search, and many apps that were previously off-limits. No mention was made of official Flash 10.2 support, although the Windows 7 boot doesn't have that issue.

New value-added update for gTablet
Fresh from receiving a hack overclocking its chip to 1.4GHz, Viewsonic has pushed an over-the-air (OTA) update to the device. Among the new features added, includes Adobe Flash support, USB keyboard and mouse drivers and an energy saving screen lock. Users will be prompted by a notification to update up rebooting or powering on their device.

ViewSonic gTablet gets Amazon price drop
ViewSonic hoped to push sales of the gTablet through to a combination of two factors. The first is a price drop at Amazon down to $280, and the other is that it's been overclocked to a 1.4GHz clock speed. XDA member pershoot boosted the chip from its standard rating of 1GHz by loading CyanogenMod 7. The 10.1-inch tablet runs on Android 2.2 and has Wi-Fi along with 16GB of built-in memory.

Original iPad ties with Xoom for second place
The Apple iPad 2 has topped the Consumer Reports tablet ratings. The iPad 2 outscored all-comers from Motorola, Dell, Samsung, ViewSonic and Archos. The next best tablet among the ten tablets tested according to Consumer Reports is the Motorola Xoom, or the original iPad, which tied for second. "So far, Apple is leading the tablet market in both quality and price, which is unusual for a company whose products are usually premium priced," said Paul Reynolds, Electronics Editor at Consumer Reports. "However, it's likely we'll see more competitive pricing in tablets as other models begin to hit the market."

Panasonic leads M-3DI standard for 3D glasses
Panasonic and Xpand 3D on Monday put out an initiative to settle on a standard for 3D glasses. M-3DI, which includes support from others like Hitachi, Mitsubishi, ViewSonic, and Seiko Epson, would create a consistent approach to active-shutter 3D for not just TVs and theaters but computers and home projectors. In an ideal world, the technology would let a viewer take the same 3D glasses they wear at home to the theater and get the same effect, the new group said.

ViewSonic Europe on Friday kicked off its Mobile World Congress presentation by introducing a dual-SIM Android phone, the V350, and a dual-boot, 10-inch ViewPad 10Pro. Android 2.4 may keep phones and tablets fragmented
Google may be planning to keep Android 2 and 3 segregated in a long-term split of the platform, according to a ViewSonic source on Monday. The 2.4 update, once thought to be called Ice Cream, is now said to be a continuation of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) that would simply add backwards compatibility for dual-core apps on single-core phones. Ice Cream, Pocket-lint heard, should be Android 3.1 and would keep the two apart in features and the interface.

Notion Ink apps ported over to ViewSonic gTablet
XDA-Developers member gojimi has created a hack for the ViewSonic gTablet that will let them run some of the Eden firmware from the Notion Ink Adam. Eight of the Eden's apps have been ported over, including Notion Ink Canvas, Calculator, Browser, Calendar, Keyboard, Sniffer, Mail, and tablet version of QuickOffice. All are Android-based and should work on any ROM.

New ViewSonic tablet spotted at Zinio CES booth
ViewSonic may not have been showing off all of its tablets at its booth at CES, as CarryPad reported spotting a new one at the Zinio booth. The tablet was being used to show off Zinio's new text reflowing feature that makes it easier to use. The seven-inch, Android-powered tablet had very few details and only a few photos.

Taiwan hints iPad only having mild carrier effect
Carriers in Taiwan aren't yet feeling a significant pinch from the iPad and other tablets on their netbook sales, those in the island's telecom industry said Thursday. Subsidized netbook sales only dipped slightly in November, to 14,000 computers from a peak near 16,000. It came despite the iPad having been on sale for months and some carriers, like Far EasTone, selling devices like the ViewSonic ViewPad, Digitimes said.

ViewSonic gTablet recall prompted by Flash and UI
ViewSonic late Monday explained that the sudden recall of the gTablet was owed to a combination of unfinished software from Adobe and itself. The company has been affected by the same lack of Flash optimization for the Tegra 2 chip and won't have an official option for Flash 10 until late January, when Adobe hopes to have a faster version. Users who still feel they need Flash can download it separately, the company said.

ViewSonic gTablet pulled from Staples
Google and NVIDIA together faced their second setback together in as many months today as a leak on Saturday revealed that Staples was pulling the ViewSonic gTablet from shelves. The Android 2.2 tablet is being shipped away due to a "manufacturing defect" and its display area removed entirely. No indication has been given to the CrunchGear tipster that the gTablet will ever return, and customers seeing this week's flyer will be told that there's no equivalent replacement because of how soon it was brought to market.

ViewSonic has launched a new, more eco-friendly range of monitors, the VG36-LED series. They are both Energy Star and EPEAT Gold certificatied and deliver energy savings of up to 50% over similar, non-LED backlit displays. The range includes the 22-inch VG2236wm-LED and the 24-inch VG2436wm-LED, which are both 1080p capable.

The V3D241wm-LED sports a native 1080p resolution and a very high claimed 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1,000:1 static). ViewSonic at IFA today filled in many of the details surrounding its dual-booting ViewPad tablet. Now dubbed the ViewPad 100, the 10-inch slate runs on a 1.66GHz Atom and uses either Windows 7 or the now old Android 1.6; either side appears to use a reference design but supports multi-touch. ViewPad 7 confirmed, to get phone functionality
Ahead of an official unveiling at the IFA expo due to kick off this Friday, ViewSonic has confirmed its 7-inch Android tablet, the ViewPad 7. It will have phone functionality as well, making it the largest phone tablet out there, beating out the five-inch Dell Streak. Users can access the web thanks to a 3G connection in addition to making voice calls, or sending text and MMS messages.
