WD Red Pro drives include hardware vibration compensation
Western Digital has updated its Network Attached Storage-focused WD Red range of hard drives with new capacities and models. The main WD Red line now includes drives with 5-terabyte and 6-terabyte capacities, while the new WD Red Pro drive line is aimed at medium to large businesses, including a few additions to help in an enterprise environment.
Thinner network storage drives offer 750GB, 1TB capacities
Western Digital has updated its line of WD Red hard drives to include two new 2.5-inch versions designed for network attached storage devices. The 1 terabyte and 750 gigabyte-capacity 2.5-inch drives join the line alongside with a new higher-capacity 4 terabyte 3.5-inch model, beating the size of its previous largest model by 1 terabyte.
WD Red claims higher reliability, performance in NAS devices
Western Digital is bringing out hard drives designed specifically for network attached storage devices. The WD Red range is a new line of storage aimed purely at the NAS market, claiming improved reliability and system performance in comparison to desktop and server drives in such devices.
