Book publisher seeks trial based on ip evidence
Book publisher John Wiley and Sons has named people accused of sharing books online and is calling for a trial with jury. If the trial goes ahead, this will be the first time a case based on evidence from BitTorrent will be tested in court.

Amazon takes early sales for Steve Jobs bio
Well ahead of its intended schedule, Amazon has put up a pre-order page for the officially sanctioned Steve Jobs biography, iSteve: The Book of Jobs. The bookseller gives it a tentative ship date of March 6, 2012 as well as an advance $20 price a third lower than what it should cost when it arrives. The book also has a cover, although it might be a placeholder and not the final look.

Kno tablets now shipping
Kno on Monday night said that its 14-inch tablets will ship on Tuesday. Both the single- and dual-screen versions will be available and will cost the promised $599 and $899, respectively. New sales are currently limited to an invite-only system due to high demand, Kno said, although it hasn't said how many it will be shipping on launch day.

McGraw-Hilll, Wiley, Cengage books forthcoming
A new developer, Inkling, is bringing a variety of high-profile school textbooks to the iPad. The first four are from McGraw-Hill, and described as best-sellers in biology, economics, marketing and psychology; these should be available today, at an early cost of $3 per chapter or $70 for an entire book. In the near future prices should be hiked to $4 and $85, respectively.
