BBC shows final matches of UK tennis tournament in 3D for third year
The BBC will be broadcasting the finals of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in 3D for the third year running, despite the low numbers of 3D-capable HDTV owners in the country. The finals and semi-finals in both the men's and women's competitions will be shown live on the broadcaster's "Red Button" service in the United Kingdom in 3D, as part of the corporation's trials with 3D content.
Radeon HD 7000M chips show up in leaked roadmap
AMD will create its upcoming Radeon HD 7000M graphics processors for notebooks on 28nm architecture, according to a leaked roadmap. Posted by Turkish site DonanimHaber, the roadmap also indicates the chip will be split into four families, codenamed Wimbledon, Heathrow, Chelsea and Thames. The first two will fall under the gamer/enthusiast category, using up more than 35W of energy and meant for big, desktop replacement notebooks.
AMD Radeon HD 7000M to go 28nm in late 2011
AMD is planning to make a significant leap in performance with a sequel to its just-launched Radeon HD 6000M video, a detailed leak gave out on Monday. The Radeon HD 7000M series should be AMD's first notebook graphics built on a much smaller 28 nanometer process and run both faster and more efficiently as a result. Donanim Haber understood that its flagship chipset, Wimbledon, would be targeted at desktop replacements and would be as much as 25 percent faster versus its yet-to-ship 6000M equivalent.
