Duracell-backed charging company adds 1,000 more charging points
PowerKiss, a wireless charging company based in Helsinki, Finland, has been acquired by Powermat, also a creator of wireless charging systems for mobile devices. The purchase will bring PowerKiss under the Duracell-backed brand, adding its 1,000 wireless charging points in European McDonalds branches and airports to the existing 1,500 Powermat-owned charging spots in the United States.

Power Matters Alliance gains three new members
AT&T, Google, and Starbucks all announced today that they would be joining the Power Matters Alliance, a consortium of device manufacturers, carriers, and physical establishments committed to the creation of a real-world ecosystem of wireless power. Starbucks will be adding wireless power stations to 17 locations in the Boston area for a limited time in-store trial, while AT&T has begun selling PMA-compatible wireless power cases and charging surfaces in select markets. Google, meanwhile, sees the standard as a means of "doing for power what the Internet did for data."

Nexus 4 to come in 8GB and 16GB models
An apparent quick start guide for the forthcoming Nexus 4 smartphone from LG has leaked to the Internet, revealing new details on the Nexus 4's storage, as well as a wireless charging feature. The charging feature -- previously seen in Palm's Touchstone-compatible handsets and the forthcoming Windows 8 Lumia devices from Nokia -- was not apparent in any previous information leaks on the new Google-LG smartphone.
