At Amazon, buyers can save 58 percent on Roxio Easy VHS to DVD, originally $60 but now $25 with free super saver shipping. A 56 percent price break can be found on the XtremeMac Tango TRX 2.1 Bluetooth audio system for iPads, iPhones, iPods and Android smartphones. It drops from $180 to $80 at Amazon.
Xtreme Mac has four iOS, Mac speakers at IFA 2011
XtremeMac on Thursday rolled out four speaker systems tailored chiefly to iOS and Mac owners. The Soma Stand is rare in having a tent-like design: it unfolds to reveal its dock and uses the two speakers as legs. It can fit everything up to iPads and lasts for as much as six hours on removable batteries.
We review XtremeMac's Tango TRX dock
The iOS audio dock space has grown fierce enough that standing out in any way is a serious fight. XtremeMac is hoping to do just that with the Tango TRX, an innovative Bluetooth-capable speaker setup for iPods and iPhones. With a breakout dock and a dedicated app, it could be one of the best docks yet; we'll find out in our Tango TRX review.
MacBook Air to get OS X restore on USB
Apple as part of the new MacBook Air launch provided at least a pair of surprises. The ultraportables are the first modern Macs to scrap optical discs for their Mac OS X discs and instead put both the OS and the iLife install on a single USB drive. Its switch means MacBook Air users can finally reinstall the OS without needing to use DVD Sharing to bring a system back to health.
XtremeMac Tango TRX speaker arrives with wireless
XtremeMac on Tuesday put out an uncommon wireless speaker system tailored expressly for the iPad, iPod touch and iPhone. The Tango TRX is at its heart a 2.1-channel speaker dock but uses a universal iOS app (free, App Store) to send audio wirelessly over Bluetooth. Its design both mimics the physical remote's controls and has an EQ to adjust the tone of the sound to a particular style.
XtremeMac launches audio docks for iPod, iPhone
XtremeMac on Wednesday launched two new audio docks for the iPod and iPhone, the Luna SST and 3 in 1 Microdock. The former has dual alarms and sports a detachable speaker for flexibility in its location, such as on each nightstand on the sides of a bed. Each alarm can go off in one speaker and come from the built-in FM radio, chime or the connected iPod or iPhone. Snooze and activate/deactivate buttons are found on each speaker.
XtremeMac cases to ship in October
More new cases have been introduced for Apple's latest iPod touch, this time from Incipio and XtremeMac, though neither company has updated its website. Incipio will deliver five cases for the Touch, alongside a wristband for the sixth-generation Nano and an armband series for the Touch, Nano and Shuffle. Incipio's dermaSHOT is a high-density silicone case for the Touch, featuring a finish that slips easily into pants pockets. The SILICRYLIC has a silicone core with a hard-shell shield for the back and corners. The Feather is an ultralight polycarbonate case, while the EDGE is a hard-shell case made from optical-quality polycarbonate with a removable lower section for docking stations. The final product is the Dotties series, which come in 15 colors with 30 interchangeable colored dots.
XtremeMac intros Micromemo
XtremeMac on Monday announced it will display the Micromemo accessory for the fourth-generation iPod nano that will allow users to make voice recordings on the Apple device. The digital voice recorder features a detachable omni-directional microphone mounted on a flexible neck. The Micromemo connects via the nano's dock and uses the device's battery for power.
Imation acquires XtremeMac
Imation has acquired "substantially all" of XtremeMac's assets, according to a company announcement. The deal is said to be worth at least $9 million, divided between $7 million in cash and a remaining amount in assumed liabilities; Imation may additionally pay as much as $10 million over the course of three years, depending on how profitable the acquisition becomes. In any case the company does not expect the deal to substantially affect its fiscal 2008 results.
iPhone, iPod chargers
XtremeMac has released InCharge Home and InCharge Travel, the newest additions to the company's line of power devices designed to safely charge Apple's iPhone and iPod. Both models are 'Works with iPhone' and 'Made for iPod' approved, certifying that they meet Apple's performance standards. The InCharge Home is a wall charger designed for use as an extra charging station with rapid charging technology that boasts twice the performance of standard charging via a computer. InCharge Home is priced at $30, while InCharge Travel is available for $50.
XtremeMac Tango X2
XtremeMac has used the relative quiet of the second day of Macworld to build up its iPod speaker line with the Tango X2. The revamp of the bookshelf system is about 30 percent smaller than the Tango Studio but tucks away an AM/FM radio with a stealth display and six station presets. This helps it operate independently of an iPod and in tighter spaces despite including a full 2.1-channel setup with tweeters, dynamic drivers, and a subwoofer, the company claims. An aux-in jack at the rear also improves its longevity by supporting virtually any device with a minijack output.
