Droid RAZR is first thin, long-lasting 4G phone
Motorola ended rumors and unveiled the Droid RAZR. The device aims to leap over the typically bulky limits of 4G phones: its use of a Kevlar back and a stainless steel frame help it measure 7.1mm thick at most points, thinner than even a Galaxy S II, while still being strong enough to survive common abuse, including splashes. Battery life also doesn't take the typical hit: Motorola expects 12.5 hours of calling and 8.9 hours of video.

Motorola confirms buying Zecter for ZumoDrive tech
Motorola Mobility on Wednesday quickly confirmed that it had bought Zecter in a minor hit to iOS. The takeover gives it access to the technology behind the iOS apps ZumoCast and ZumoDrive and will be used directly to push cloud access on its Android phones, including in the Motoblur layer. Zecter's technology will be used for "wireless syncing, desktop integration, video transcoding and thin-file retrieval technologies" to provide access to content from home on the phone, Motorola said.

Motorola may buy iPhone app maker Zecter
Motorola was claimed on Tuesday to be acquiring key iPhone app developer Zecter. The startup, best known for ZumoDrive and also ZumoCast, could be bought out in the last few days of 2010. TechCrunch has heard it would be the last deal made before Motorola Mobility splits off on January 4, although the new mobile group would be the one to absorb the employees.

ZumoCast media streaming app now available
ZumoCast, an app that lets iPhone and iPad users stream media stored on their home computers, has exited private beta testing and can now be downloaded for free. A desktop version also needs to be downloaded and allows users to specify which folders to share. To save space, files are transcoded before being sent out.
