Fewer dictionaries pre-loaded than leaked

Sony has released its newest e-reader a bit earlier than observers had expected, with the Reader PRS-T2 now available for purchase on Sony's site several weeks before its predicted release. The device, leaked in an advertisement earlier this week, had been expected to go on sale some time next month. Most of the specifications expected to show up in the new e-reader have indeed materialized, and it is available in white, red, and matte black.

Bookeen Orizon reader gets multi-touch, May release date

Booken has announced that its upcoming e-book reader, the Orizon, will support multi-touch input. The device integrates a 6-inch SiPix display with 800x600 resolution, along with 1GB of integrated memory and a microSD slot for further expansion. Other known specs include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an accelerometer, while supported formats include ePub and PDF.

Kindle sales already beyond 3 million units?

Device faces competition from iPad, Nook, others

Amazon has allegedly sold more than 3 million Kindle readers through the end of 2009, according to an unnamed source close to the company. Analysts anticipated slower sales, with 2.5 million units expected by the end of 2010, although TechCrunch describes the source of the latest numbers as "amazingly accurate" with Kindle sales numbers for the past several years.

eBook Reader utility finds and reads free eBooks

Custom Solutions has introduced a new e-book utility, eBook Reader. The software can download free e-books and save them to a bookshelf folder kept in a user's Documents folder. While eBook Reader allows users to read the books directly from the software interface, it also provides an option to automatically convert text to speech. The reader can be expanded to fill the screen and supports fonts between 10-24 point sizes. It also bookmarks each location where the reader stops between sessions.

Ectaco intros jetBook Lite pocket eBook reader

jetBook Lite debuts at Frankfurt Book Fair

Ectaco has announced its second eBook reader at the Frankfurt Book Fair in New York, labeled jetBook Lite. The portable device weighs 7.5 ounces and features a 5-inch transflective monochrome display manufactured by Toshiba. Internal memory provides just 100MB of storage, while an SD card slot allows for expansion. The eBook reader also supports a variety of different language options such as English, German, Spanish, Russian, and Polish.
