Hannspree has given Electricpig a chance to play with pre-production version of its forthcoming 10.1-inch Android 2.2 (Froyo) tablet, the Hannspad. It includes a custom Hanspree UI, which is most noticeable on the ‘portlets’ page, which features three customizable widgets. The device is powered by the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 platform. Hannspree in Europe has sent out a press release that it will soon release a 10.1-inch multi-touch tablet preloaded with Android 2.2. It will be powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 250 platform to drive the 1024x600 display, while a mini HDMI output will let users view 1080p videos on external screens that support the resolution. General processing is handled by the Tegra's dual-core 1GHz Cortex A9 chip.
Hannspree decided to veer away from its focus on displays in the US by launching the HannsNote netbook in the country. The 10-inch PC clings tightly to the common netbook formula of a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP but comes stock with a six-cell battery that gives the system as much as five hours of battery life where many netbooks still use three-cell packs. The inclusion of a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as standard also set it slightly above the most ubiquitous systems of its class.
Hannspree on Monday announced it has brought its 25-inch ST251MKB 1080p LCD HDTV set to the US market. The set is the first and smallest in the new ST series, which designates mainstream, budget digital TVs. Capable of supporting 1080p resolution, the ST251MKB also sports a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 2ms response time. Brightness is rated at 300cd/m2 while the dynamic contrast ratio is 10,000:1.
On Monday, HANNspree North America announced the launch of two digital picture frames that have a host of multimedia features. The 7-inch SD7021 has 8MB of internal memory and a 3-in-1 memory card reader, along with a USB 2.0 port to transfer images from computers. The frame is only available in black and will rotate images as needed to ensure they are always right side up, while a slideshow function displays the content.
Novelty TV maker HANNSpree announced the launch of its Starlight Blue 15-inch LCD TV on Monday. The TV's design theme is a night sky, with a sparkled blue surround that curves out to form points meant to mimic a crescent moon. The TV's stand is likewise uniquely styled, resembling a planet's orbiting rings. The display's resolution is rated at 1024x768 pixels, with a 500cd/m2 brightness and 500:1 contrast ratio. Video is clear up to 150 degrees off center in the horizontal plane and 135 degrees in the vertical.
