QuickPWN v2.2 available

Just days after Apple released its iPhone 2.2 Software update, it has been jailbroken by QuickPWN.com's developer team. QuickPWN has released QuickPWN 2.2 for both Mac and Windows users, free to download from the website. The software allows users to jailbreak the iPhone or iPod touch updated to the latest v2.2.

Apple on Thursday unveiled the long-awaited iPhone 2.2 update, offering users a number of enhancements and additions to maps and mail, as well as several improvements to stability and reliability. The v2.2 update provides the Maps app with Google Street View, and public transit directions. Dropped pins will now show addresses, and users can share locations over email. The Mail app itself had allegedly isolated issues resolved from scheduled fetching of email, and the formatting of wide HTML mail.

iPhone 2.2 adds app rating

As Apple prepares v2.2 of the iPhone operating system, a new screenshot indicates that the company is inserting a rating dialogue before users can delete an application from their device. Greek language site iPhone Hellas reports that attempting to delete an application directly from the device yields a popup window, offering the familiar five-star system, as well as a "No Thanks" button for users who are not interested in supplying feedback about the app.

iPhone 2.2 beta report

Apple is testing new iPhone software features that bring Street Views, public transit options, and location sharing features, according to a new report on a beta version of the software. According to iPhoneYap, a site dedicated to the iPhone, a beta of the next iPhone Software was released to developers on Friday. Screenshots of the release, version 2.2 beta 2, show that the Maps application now offers an additional feature: public transit directions. According to the screenshots and report, users can choose from one of three icons while in directions mode: car, public transit, and walking (from right to left) -- all of which are centered at the top of screen.
