IEnvision adds new iPhone

iEnvision has added five new "mini-versions" of its image-viewing app for the iPhone. Each version focuses on a particular art topic, such as Japanese manga and comics, or works of art. Art Envi, Comic Envi, Kids Books Envi, News Envi, and Space Envi are available now at the AppStore. Unlike the full version -- which includes all of the topics and more -- the mini-versions are restricted to a single specific content area. Open Door Networks says the smaller apps allow users to sample the product, without having to buy the full version. IEnvision gathers images from the internet, organizes them and creates full-screen automated slideshows.

Satirical software and news company The Daily Grind today unveiled DeIMG, a re-branding of its software That's Not A Picture, which is designed to turn images into table data, for, as the author puts it, "browsers which support tables but not images". The largely pointless and futile app converts PNG, JPG. GIF, and PDF files into HTML, XHTML, or XHTML+CSS. Usage of the application is largely in question, as the developer proudly displays users' qualms and frustration on the product's webpage.

Developer Chris Wood has released SimpleImage 5, a large update to his image and movie viewing application. Wood says that SimpleImage is completely rewritten in Cocoa – Mac OS X's default application type – from the ground up. The new version has full support for Leopard, and over a dozen new features. Users can perform live searches of their media, as well as save media in web-appropriate formats. The software can also generate print previews, as well as movie contact sheets. Wood is offering a Christmas discount on SimpleImage 5 until December 25th, selling the software for $20.
