Robbers leave with seven trucks full of electronic goods from Campinas factory

A group of bandits robbed a Samsung Electronics factory in Brazil last night, escaping with seven trucks filled of goods from the smartphone and notebook computer manufacturer. Reuters reports the factory in Campinas was robbed just before midnight, with 20 robbers, some armed, posing as employees.

Daring raid fraught with risk, removed loot from back at 50MPH or more

An unusual tale of a daring robbery of Apple equipment sounds like it came directly from an action thriller like the spy spoof Danger Diabolik. Thieves in Germany, copying similar thefts by a Romanian gang, apparently followed a moving truck full of Apple devices, broke open the lock on the rear of the truck and made off with about $95,000 (€70,000) worth of iPads, iPhones and other items -- all while travelling at around 50 miles per hour.

3SI Security Systems Inc. designed FindIt tracking device for iPhone

With the release of the latest in the line of iPhones, retailers have been taking precautions against the likely prospect of armed robbery. Prime Communications, an AT&T dealer, estimates that it suffers from two armed robberies per month at its more than 300 stores US-wide, according to the Wall Street Journal's Thomas Gryta. The chain has adopted the use of 3SI Security Systems' FindIt device in June 2013. FindIt, a tracking device the size of a short stack of business cards, can be contained within a product box, such as iPhone, which can locate thieves in their attempt to successfully flee with stolen merchandise.

Man who stole iPhones from wireless store caught by his own smartphone

Thief left behind his personal Samsung Galaxy phone, quickly caught

A thief who broke into an wireless phone store in Springfield, VA and made off with a number of iPhones was apprehended shortly after the robbery because he had left behind his own personal phone -- a Samsung Galaxy -- in the store. Travis Montgomery Snyder, 25, was arrested after police found the phone and tracked him down using his personal information stored there after obtaining a search warrant.

Boulder, CO Apple Store burglarized, $100K door destroyed

Custom-made entrance was worth more than goods stolen

Apple's 29th Street retail store in Boulder, CO was burglarized on Saturday, resulting in $64,000 worth of merchandise being stolen. The thief used large rocks to smash through a custom-made door which was actually appraised as more valuable than the merchandise stolen before police arrived. The robbery happened in the early-morning hours on Saturday. Taken were several laptops, iPads and iPhones, which remain easy to fence and resell despite some security measures.

London theft similar to Japanese heist in scale, timing

An O2 cellular retailer store in London's Wimbledon area was hit in a robbery early Friday morning, with more than 250 iPhone 5 units stolen along with cash in what police say was an inside job. The BBC reports that 252 iPhones worth around $165,000 were taken from the shop in the Tandem Centre at 1:30AM local time, and want to speak with Usman Sethi, 23, who worked as an assistant at the shop. Sethi is also wanted for questioning regarding the theft of jewelry belonging to a member of his family. Coincidentally, around the same number iPhones were stolen in organized attacks on three Japanese iPhone stores in Osaka, Japan.

Burglars ram vehicle into Portland Mac store

Wall destroyed, classic Mac collection damaged

Two thieves used a full-sized gray pickup truck to ram into MacPac, a popular northeast Portland, Oregon independent Mac dealer Saturday, getting away with thousands of dollars' worth of laptops and iPads -- but the robbery was caught on tape with some clear views of the suspects in surveillance footage, say police.
