Capable of 600dpi scans, 20 color pages per minute at 300dpi
HP has announced the availability of the Scanjet Pro3000 s2 for business users. Said to plug into existing scanning platforms, the sheet feed scanner includes a 50-page automatic feeder for mass document scanning, and is capable of scanning A4-sized pages at 300dpi in color at up to 20 pages per minute.
Scanner provides portability, quick scans
MacNN is continuing to review Fujitsu document scanners with the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100. The hardware is specifically geared toward mobile professionals, who may need both portability and sharp images. It can scan up to 600dpi, create PDFs and JPGs, and export to Word, Excel or iPhoto.
Performance on photos, business cards mixed
MacNN has reviewed the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300, a semi-portable, sheet-fed document scanner. It can scan up to 600 dpi and do duplex color scanning, with automatic document feeds and page size detection. It also corrects skewed paper feeds and can output to PDF or JPG. Exports can be made to programs like Word, Excel, iPhoto or Address Book.
Paperless Office Bundles
DEVONtechnologies has bundled its DEVONthink Pro Office application with the ScanSnap S300M and S1500M document scanners. DEVONthink is a document management program that can be used to store documents, scanned papers, e-mail messages, notes and bookmarks, while linking the content together with shared ideas. The Pro Office version features an e-mail archive, scanner support, optical character recognition, web sharing capabilities and image capture support.
Fujitsu ScanSnap 1500M
Japan's Fujitsu says that it will debut the ScanSnap S1500M, a new scanner, at booth 520 during this week's Macworld Expo. The hardware (not pictured) is said to incorporate a new "intelligent" resolution function, as well as a redesigned interface built for Mac OS X 10.5. Business card scanning should be improved, and the package includes a bundled copy of Acrobat 8 Professional for document editing.
